Half-Life 2: Episode One arrived with a trailer of Episode Two. Yet, the Orange Box was shamelessly delayed.
So, considering there hasn't been a trailer for Episode Three yet... Does that mean it might take up to years before it finally arrives?
Hell, I certainly hope it didn't get stuck in development hell. We all know what development hell did to Duke Nukem Forever...

"Duct Tape is the answer."

That sounds logical... if you don't think about it for more than three seconds.

And now my statement is no longer logical (stupid slow typing)

God I hope not. If it gets stuck in "development hell" it'll be lost forever.

Let's count.
Ep1 came out in June 1, 2006. The Orange Box - October 10, 2007. Not to forget that The Orange Box was 3 games (Ep2, TF2, Portal.)
What Valve said is that the space between Ep2 and Ep3 will be bigger than the space between HL2 and Ep1 and between Ep1 and Ep2.
So the formula is like this:
Ep3 release date (short Ep3) > L4D2 (since Valve's L4D thing is almost trademark) + (Ep1-HL2) (the bigger space);
Ep3 > Nov 18, 2009 + (Jun 1, 2006 - Nov 14, 2004);
Ep3 > Jun 5, 2011.And in "development hell" case, HL3 would still arrive about a year (HL2 - Source engine) later. That's just not how you fail the fans.
Sidenote: At least Ep3 (and even HL3 in case of development hell) falls to be before 2012 Apocalypses (Dec 21, 2012).
