The point is, 22 December 2012 is not the date the Mayan calendar ends, it's the date the Mayan Calander ends a cycle and starts a new one.
Really, we survived the 6th of June in the years 6, 1006 and 2006, so we'll survive 2012, too.

The only thing I'm afraid that can be lost is my life (but that's way too improbable, so I'm not).
Even if Portal 2 and/or HL2: Ep3 happen to be lost, you can say nothing as long as Valve is not bankrupt.

The point is, even CCP regulary release information regarding a patch called Incarna for the game EVE Online. It has been in production for years, the set release date has shifted from 'When It's Done' to 'Soon' and back again several times, and some people are starting to give up hope they'll see it in their lifetime, but still, CCP keep the EVE players updated. Why, only recently they released a small teaser, only a few seconds, but nonetheless a clue they are working on it.
Valve, on the other hand, has remained almost shamelessly quiet about Half-Life 2: Episode Three, with the exception of some concept art showing (HL2:Ep2 SPOILER WARNING)

I couldn't possibly imagine why someone who doesn't play EVE Online (or do you?) would be interested in a patch for the game, but...

Has anyone else noticed this: the newest member is mbortolino, the guy who made Research and development.
Back on topic( off topic really), either Valve are going to release them with L4D2 (unlikely) or keep us waiting a whole more year (likely). They ARE going to release it at some point, even if they went bankrupt they would probably do it in their spare time. The only thing that could stop them is every employee of valve dying.
If they went bankrupt. there's no way they could release the thing. They could make it, Steam would still exist (of course on another company), but there's no Valve to release it.
