A few of my ideas for <Map Project Name Here>

Sadly, controlling physics objects via portals is very hard and high inaccurate. If you were to require the player to place the object on a button...there would have to be a lot of guiding done to insure it lands on the button and doesn't slide off a lot.

that is a very good point...

And what if the box ends up at a place portals can't properly transport it? Like on a metal floor, or in a tough corner?

"Duct Tape is the answer."

For the sliding-off-the-button problem, you could make the buttons in a glass tube. As for getting stuck, make everything portal-able when you have to use them.

I don't lag, I own so much it takes a few seconds for the server to figure out what the hell I just did.

Make the cube destroyable, explodable or something like a custom breakable crate. Dunno if that's good.

Made Logic Portals in early 2008. Making diportals in 2011.
Author of Minecraft mods (MAtmos, Minaptics, NoteSlider) and Garry's Mod addons (Gunstrumental, SharpeYe, GarryWare, DepthHUD).

maybe if you hit it with the portal projectile blob it 'pops' the cub into the air that would help if it gets stuck, you might be able to do it with a few parented detection boxes

I think with some thought put into the design of the map, you can easily guide the player's portal placements without making it seem like there are only specific areas they should be shooting at (unless that's what you want them to see, of course.)

I personally think it would be cool if the block was so heavy that when it fell through a portal (let's say it went straight down and came out the ceiling the same way) that it hits the floor and rocks the room a little bit. It would freak the player out a little, maybe, but the would stand clear of it, for sure, and it would be a nifty effect. Plus it really conveys the idea that they REALLY can't pick it up lol

Why not push it back to modular floors when it's on metal floors? :P

And the mapper should avoid making pits where the thing can fall in without a way out.

Be advised that any noticable taste of blood isn't part of any test protocol. But is an unintended side effect of the Hand-Held-High-Energy-Pellet.
