Quote from Villethemina on June 19, 2012, 9:10 amBumping again. I found out that the process is a lot more complex than just moving a couple of files. Apparently I have to de- and recompile the cake and edit the .qc file.
So I have now managed to do all of that but the compiler wont compile the cake but instead keeps crashing. I have read all the advice in about 10 threads on this forum but found no answer. NEED HELP!!

It shouldn't be that hard to move files from one Source game to the other. From what I can tell people have already ported the cake model into Portal 2 in the past. Also here's proof that it shouldn't be that hard.

I would have had to decompile and recompile every single model used in that map in order to get it working. It should be as simple as moving files from one game directory into the other.

Or maybe I just suck so bad on hammer
EDIT: and the problem still exists :/ I cant figure out how to compile the files.
EDIT2: The original problem with just copying the files is that when I do that and open up the cake on hammer(add it to the map) it only shows the yellow lines around it and as I compile the map it says "unable to load vertex data"

Quote from FelixGriffin on June 19, 2012, 11:33 amOh! I know that error!
Did you copy the file called [something].dx80.vtx?
Rename it to .dx90.vtx and it will work. Portal 2 just uses a new version of DirectX.
