I don't have very good eyes, so it took me a few tries to get the code right. Why can't the confirmation code just be a black and white picture with text on it?

Quote from Megadude on February 15, 2008, 12:52 amThere are computer programmes available that would be able to recognise such a simple image as you suggest, make the verification useless, so it has to be a complicated image. It's pretty much the same with any image verification system. Also, if you do have trouble with the image, it did say on the registration page:

It isn't pretty much the same with any image verification system. Most are much simpler than this one. But that is just my opinion with registration in general.

Just imagine : if that is the case, not only your DNA would be known in the whole world (how "Big Brotherish"), but cracking the batabase of any server using this system means that just anyone could access your DNA and do whatever they want with it.
I sure hope this is a joke.

BUT: i also think of all the hate groups that spawn here, and terroist, and rapes, and stuff (Just watch Dateline NBC: To Catch a Predator) and that is only a SMALLLLLL portion of the internet population. imagine how big the problem really is? If people ~KNEW~ that they might otherwise be responsible for their actions, then the spam, hate, violence might drop down some.
i mean its getting bad. and the truth is Computers, and the Internet are the way of the future. and if we don't PROTECT our future.... where are we?But Lastly, the "Oh i'm worried about hackers" thing is kinda old/boring. yeah there are hackers, and yeah they can get my info. but thats true, ANYWHERE, and in anytime, there have always been "hackers" just they were called something else: Thieves. they can just as easily hack your bank, and steal you info there, but i'm not about to pull my money out of the back for fear of hackers.
ok, i just woke up, and i guess my brain was ready to fart. so. there ya go.
Love you. Hyakkidouran :-p

There is NO anonymity on the Internet, it's all about time. You can hide yourself behing firewalls, proxies, zombie computers and such, but at the end, you always let something somewhere that can reveal your identity (a least your IP address). Unless you're your own ISP, you can't be anonymous on the Internet, the only way to be almost entirely anonymous, is to steal the Internet connection of someone else, but again, your computer could be identified with it's MAC address (hardware) if you're really unlucky.
