Quote from Un4given on September 29, 2010, 11:07 amI just took out Source SDK YD and felt like mapping , first there was a update but it didnt take that long
when i started i created(as u mostly do) first a room using Hollow but when i hit Ctrl+H nothing happend, it only deselected the brush. Then i used right-click - make hollow in top view
now after about 30 minutes i needed to hollow again
i selected the brush and hit(by habit) Ctrl+H now what happend? id didnt only deselect the brush, everyrhing was gone except the brush i wanted to hollow!aslo i noticed if i right click on a brush The "Make Hollow" option is not labeled with a hotkey anymore (like its done with Cut (Ctrl+X))
now any idea why that happend? i didnt lose much work but i cant imagine if that happens when i got more to lose

Quote from HMW on September 29, 2010, 1:59 pmThis has changed in more recent versions of Hammer.
Ctrl+H is now "quick hide unselected". It makes all unselected items temporarily invisible. Just "H" by itself hides all selected items and "U" makes all quick-hidden objects visible again.
To make a brush hollow, you have to select "make hollow" from the menu.
I agree that it's not an ideal decision of Valve's to reassign an existing key combo, but we'll have to live with it, unfortunately...
Just remember, if you accidentally hit ctrl+H, press the U to undo it.

Quote from msleeper on September 29, 2010, 4:01 pmTo my knowledge there isn't any changelog for Hammer. There were lots of new features added after Episode 2 came out, but most of the documentation is made from the community. Check the VDC, there is at least some information there on what you can and can't do.

Quote from p0rtalplayer on September 29, 2010, 5:11 pmI find this annoying too. Luckily, I don't hollow too much.
Who else wants them to change it back and add more stuff in portal 2 hammer?

I pretty much only ever use hollow for 3D skyboxes, which for portal don't matter at all. Impossible to tell if P2 has any exterior scenes yet so they may also be redundant for P2.
As for new stuff in the P2 engine, could be but there probably wont be any large new features, not after the recent one adding instances and all the quick hide stuff (which I'm a big fan of). All the dynamic lights stuff is already in there that's just improving the engine.

(Ctrl + H is one example of this.)
