Custom Music Creation

I know this hasn't got anything to do with mapping but it is to do with modding so I put it in this section. I am creating a portal 2 mod and I want it to feature custom music I know how to insert it in to the game but I need to know how to get it to sound like the portal 2 music. If anyone knew how to I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Joe

I'm assuming you're talking about composing music for portal 2. With the themes, overgrown has calmer synths and sometimes a harp. Reconstructing is very percussive with fling levels and has very calm but unsettling synths (Low square+saw with cutoff about half way maybe) with non-flying levels. Bts music is the hardest because you need to match it with the environment, so just go with what feels right. Underground music follows a certain chord progression (listen to the songs) and is mostly calm synths sometimes accompanied by staccato strings/flutes. Wheatley style has REALLY calm synths mostly doing chords and strings mostly doing chords. Sometimes there is a calm synth arpeggiating octaves. Hope that helps. If any terms are foreign to you, just ask.

Ok, thanks for that. Do you have any idea what sounds were used to make the music?

I'm pretty sure they used a simple sync lead for the main synth. If you have garageband, you can select the grand piano, go to its settings, change it from a piano to a sync lead, and select the preset mini lead B (I think). It should sound good. I use cubase to compose, so I'm not sure entirely if that's the right name, but I know it's there.
