Epic Introduction Thread
Quote from lotsafish on June 9, 2011, 9:43 amHi All, I'm Lotsafish!
I've been lurking for a while reading through things and I thought it was time I say hello.
This is an excellent community, though a little intimidating as I have only just started learing how to Map and its a very steep learning curve.I look forward to hearing what you think of my first map - I'm almost finished it now

I'm here because;
1-I'm a P0rtal fan. You know the feeling, yep?2-I've heard that this place is the main hub for P0rtal level building. I'm into level building, a little new to Hammer, but I got some level building experience.
And most importantly,
3-I also have heard that there is a competition going on?
BRING IT ON!!By the way, my Steam ID is Hathseput. If you want to run a Co-op, or simply talk about Cake (with Lemonade), you are all welcome.
Test, till you get it BEST!
--ShroudeyeYour level building experience wouldn't happen to include a relatively recent singleplayer map for a 1999 game -- the map being called 'Red Valley'?
(And the levelset it's for being called Army of Haloon).I see this name and I think... wonder if this is the same person? I think you are.
Welcome!

Quote from Mitsunyan on June 10, 2011, 11:34 amHello everyone, Mitsunyan here.
Just an average player, a big Portal fan, which is, well, not a big surprise.
So I've been playing some of your maps, praising them silently, just enjoying my time alone, and then I thought:
"Actually, why do I not sign up on TWP Community if I love science so much?"
Here's this, there's that, now I am signed up, as you can see.
I am currently trying to get on good terms with Hammer, with not so much success, but still, some.
That's about it.Edit: Oh, that's right, my Steam username is the same as my nickname here, if anyone is willing to have a nice chat or play co-op, or anything else : )

I though it'd be polite to post in this here introduction thread after jumping right into discussion. xD
Hopefully my first map will be done by the end of the week, so I can show my worth then.. if any.~Kiriashi

Quote from Yoshermon on June 17, 2011, 5:07 pmI'm not used to introductions, but I might as well anyway. I suck at making puzzles but I love using Hammer regardless and testing things out to see how they work. I'm starting to wonder if detailing and decorating maps may be more my thing than actually building them.
If there's one thing I am good at, though, it's drawing (depending on your definition of "good"). Here's a self-portrait of me holding my weapon of choice for the zombie apocalypse:

Quote from Nighthawk0973 on June 22, 2011, 10:22 pmI'm a HUGE portal fan. I got the game for PS3 and now figured out that my computer can handle it too :O
I really enjoy using the Portal 2 Authoring tools to try and make maps but am having the trouble of not being able to see my error messages because I don't know how.
Any help would be appreciated.

Quote from WinstonSmith on June 22, 2011, 10:42 pmFirst of all, welcome. However, just for the record there's a dedicated intro/welcome thread. Second, if you want to see the errors in the map's compile log, check the "Wait for keypress before exit" box in the Compile window. If you want to see errors while testing your map, access the Developer Console by pressing the ~ key. You'll have to enable it in the keyboard advanced settings first though.
But again, welcome!
