Excursion funnel too bright

So I put an excursion funnel in my map, and everything works fine except that the lighting on the model is way too bright. You can see what I mean here.

Anyone else had this problem before? What's wrong here?

Do you have a few brushes behind the model or is the model protruding straight into the void?

The model is completely surrounded by brushes, and the interior is textured with a black texture (I don't remember the exact name).

Ah darn. Well, not quite sure what the issue is there.

I suspect a lack of env_cubemaps.

Do you have a light entity right in front of the model? Have you tried lowering it's settings?

I had the same problem when I was creating that excursion funnel example for VDC. The specular shading makes it really bright if you have no cubemaps. I turned specular shading off in-game and voila, it looked normal.

Ah, I didn't realize that the model texture had hella specularity. My thinking was the light entity in front of the excursion funnel was turned way too high.

Try adding a couple cubemaps then.
