General game discussion thread

Talk about any games in this topic. Games you like, games you dislike, new releases, games coming out later, whatever.

I'll start.

Alone in the Dark (360)
well, I must say that yes, this game did get some horrible reviews, but I still got it because my preorder came with $10 off, the soundtrack, and a shirt. I am liking the game so far. Sure, it has flaws, but it makes up with it with it's epic moments and atmosphere.
Horrible voice acting and F bombs every other word ruin what could have been a mediocre story. I have to point out, though, the soundtrack is amazing. You can download it easy, the group is called "The Mystery of Bulgarian Voices"

The World Ends With You (DS)
Amazing game. very funny, fun, addicting, depth, fun battles, great characters, great storyline, quirky soundtrack, and it's a long game too. Definitely my favorite DS game, and probably in my top 10 favorite games.

Team Fortress 2 and the recent updates
I love TF2. I love the updates/unlockables they are putting out. It is annoying to have 5 pyros on each team, but I think that they are "fixing" the parts of classes that need balancing still. They are asking the community for suggestions for the heavy unlocks on their blog, which I think is really cool.

Ratchet and Clank: TOD (PS3) and Uncharted (PS3)
Let me start off by saying that I have been an Insomniac Games fanboy and a Naughty Dog fanboy since the days of the GOOD crash Bandicoot and Spyro days. In case you didnt know, Insomniac Makes the ratchet and clank games, resistance, and they made the first three spyro games. Naughty Dog is pretty similar. They made Uncharted, and the first three Crash Bandicoot games, and Jak and Daxter games. That is why the newer crash and spyro games suck. for some reason they sold the licenses awhile ago. OK, enough ranting.
Both the games are really fun. R&C is really fun, but it DOES NOT look like a pixar film like they had been saying it would. It just looks like a shiny R&C. Uncharted is fun, and has amazing visuals, with thousands of animations just for the main character. All in all they are both fun games.

Oh and in case you didnt notice, Insomniac and Naughty Dog are probably my favorite game companies. They have made every single game they make in a year  . Now that is awesome, because they are good games, too.

^Indeed. I have already purchased the soundtrack. I'll get the game when it's $5 - $10. :P

As for what I've been playing, I'm going to copy this off my blog:

Free Games:

Also, I'd like to bring a couple great free games to your attention.

First, some intense shooters:

1. rRootage - A procedurally generated vector graphics Shoot-Em-Up. Pure, vertical awesomeness, with some of the most creative and lush bullet patterns I've ever seen.
2. Mu-Cade - A King-of-the-Hill style vector graphics shooter with physics-effected centipedes.
3. Warning Forever - Another vector-graphics procedurally generated shooter, but the enemy you fight evolves and gains new weapons and shields depending on how you manage to kill it.

Now, some wonderful exploration games:

1. Knytt Stories - An absolutely beautiful pixel-art exploration game by Nifflas. A very soothing experience. Try all of the story expansions and the original Knytt!
2. Within A Deep Forest - Another game by Nifflas, but this time you're a bouncing ball that can gain several powers to overcome the games challenges.
3. Passage - A game that's hard to describe without ruining it. Look at the controls, play it, then read the creator's statement.

The things I'm looking forward too these days are pretty much only Spore and X3 Reunion Terran Conflict.
I don't know much about any new games besides those...

Be advised that any noticable taste of blood isn't part of any test protocol. But is an unintended side effect of the Hand-Held-High-Energy-Pellet.

yeah, spore looks to be really fun. I can't wait for it. Although, I am mainly a console gamer, as you can see by my list of games

TF2 is all i'm really playing right now. I used to play WoW a lot but dropped that habit. Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 are my two biggest anticipated games.

Favourite game:Kingdom Hearts(PS2, GBA(soon to be on DS, PSP, and PS3))

These games are a mix of new characters, Disney, and final fantasy.

For the first game, I saw it at Rogers, and decided to try it out. I just loved it. I didn't really pay much attention to the story, so I missed out on a lot of details. Gameplay wise, it mixes real-time action with some strategy, but it's mostly button-mashing.

For KH2, I stumbled upon it by accident, and immediately wanted to get it. Of course, I didn't know about Chain of Memories, so a few things were confusing. The gameplay was basically the same, with the addition of Drive forms (transformation for different purposes). That added a whole bunch of new options to play the game. The intro was a little long (2 hours, maybe more (but you get to play so thats good)). Now that I was paying attention to the story of the game, I started to love the game(s) even more. I was never bored when playing this game, and it only gets better as you progress. With the Gummi Ship levels (space fights), there is almost limitless customization and hours of extra content. The story will keep you guessing the whole time, up until the final boss fight. On the topic of the final boss, there are about 3 back-to-back stages of the fight, each getting tougher. Some of these seem a little too long, but at the same time, not long at all (don't ask how). The best part is, you never really complete the game, you just see how much you did, then go back to your last save. One of the side-bosses, Sephiroth, is probably one of the hardest bosses in gaming, but the rewards are worth it.

Chain of Memories (GBA) is basically just a filler, but does teach you about some of the characters in KH2.

One of the best parts of these games is the soundtrack. The music is just so amazing, and you won't forget it for a long time.

2 new games are in the works for DS(356/2 Days) and PSP(Birth by Sleep), and I can't wait for them to come out(literally, I might kill someone)

I have to admit, the Half-Life games are amazing too, but they just don't compare to the Kingdom Hearts series.

Of course, I can't leave out Rock Band. The drums are just so fun to play, and there are so many songs that I am familiar with.

I don't lag, I own so much it takes a few seconds for the server to figure out what the hell I just did.

Recently, I've been playing a fair amount TF2, RE4 (on the Wii) and replaying Beyond Good and Evil.

I don't like the other RE games (even RE4 on other consoles) and I also dislike the RE movies. In fact, I dislike the entire horror genre - but I freakin' love RE4 on the Wii: It's pure fun.

SOLD: i might check this out.
