The only recommendation I have for the sound files is to try to cut back on the exhalation sounds when you pronounce plosives. :0p

Yeah, I've tried to reduce the plosives in a number of ways but they're just not working. There is a technique I will try next which basically involves putting a pencil on the windscreen to dissipate the plosives.
Also, here is an unprocessed sound file...haha:

Quote from TEZT on November 11, 2007, 8:56 pmHey, those voices are pretty amazing. The unaltered recordings link is broken as of now, so I don't know how much voice-acting you are doing compared to how much you edit it. Do you think you could make a tutorial on how to record/edit with Melodyne to make your voice sound like GLaDOS? That would be really helpful. That is, unless you want to do everyone's GLaDOS voice-over requests personally

Yeah, tutorial FTW!

I don't mind filling requests for glados voices. I was thinking about making a glados voice request thread. I've included some wav files and tips for if anyone wants to take a shot at this themselves.
Also, sleepwalker, here's the 4th file: 04 - stop it.wav
and for those interested in the process:
1. 04 - stop it-phase1.wav - This is the first step, the dry recording with no processing.
When recording I am trying to talk with both emotion and a lack of emotion (lol wut? - yeah, angry robot, FTW!). I'm trying to keep my voice pitch and formant in a particular range so that I can raise the formant uniformly and modify the pitches with greater ease.
2. 04 - stop it-phase2.wav - This is the second step.
This is where the recording is modified in Melodyne.
These are the steps I take on every file:
CTRL+A - Select all.
CTRL+ALT+P - this corrects the pitch. Leave the pitch center slider at 100% and change the pitch drift slider to 0%.
Select the formant tool. double click in the [ --- ] box on the toolbar and enter in 360. 360 is the amount of formating that works pretty good for me - yours might be different. To find the right number just just drag the formant bars around. if you have everything selected you can move them all at once.
Move the pitches around now. Think glados-y. Her pitch doesn't move around in a wide range...it pretty much sticks around the note F with jumps up to around the note A.
To make the pitch jumps or cracks that glados's voice sometimes has...select the note separation tool and double click on the middle of a word, it will split into two pieces. They will most likely go out of pitch. Select the edit pitch tool now and double click on each of the pieces...this will correct their pitch centers again. now you can move the first half to a higher note.

I suggest, to try these things out, take the two extra files above and load them in to melodyne. Start by loading the phase2 version of "stop it". with it loaded, go to file and import audio to load in the phase1 version.
1. double click on the track for phase2 to open up it's edit view.
2. on the top right corner there's a pull down menu with the file names in it. select phase1.
3. You should now see phase1 in orange with phase2 behind it in yellow.
4. try out the short tutorial stuff above. FYI: If you click on one of the yellow notes it will bring the other file to the front.

I'm recording the vocals with a Samson C03U microphone, modifying the pitch and formants with Melodyne then EQing and compressing the vocals with Soundforge.Like huricaaane said, that sounds more like an LCD television set than a mic, but whatever.
And are you into sound recording profesionally? 'Cause melodyne alone costs alot of money...And I just make my glados voices with an AT&T text to speech program, then adjust the EQ's, and toss it through a mechanize filter. (and the free program I use is GoldWave.) Not state of the art, but it gets the job done. Also, might I ask you what pitch constraints you use to get the glados voice so good? I can't seem to find it... (but that might be due to the crappy TTS program )
