Graphics Glitch
Quote from jrlauer on May 7, 2009, 4:28 pmCan anyone tell me why this happened. It's happened twice, both times in the Rainbow Palace, never with any other map. I had to shut down Portal and restart it to reset the graphics, then it was fine.

Quote from reepblue on May 7, 2009, 4:48 pmI believe that Rainbow Palace is a pre-SDK map. I'm not sure when the Orange Box SDK came out but if it is a pre-SDK map, that is most likely the problem.
It works fine with me. .

The more you give, the less appreciated it will be received.
Quote from mazk1985 on May 7, 2009, 7:42 pmIm pretty sure it came out after the sdk. I'll be the first to admit it if im wrong but can you imagine how hard this map would've been to make if it wasn't for the sdk update which allowed textures to have the "noportal" parameter

Quote from jrlauer on May 9, 2009, 3:42 pmIt's only happened twice and I've played this map several times, so it's not a big deal, I just thought some of you might find it interesting. Here's another view of it.

That looks really fugly.
Quote from p0rtalplayer on May 9, 2009, 7:09 pmI just noticed something odd: quite a few of the textures have been replace with different color variations of the texture for the office chair seen in bts areas. Might some of the texture info be replacing itself?

Each time it would change closer and closer to what you see in the pictures above. Once it got to that stage, it stopped.

My first suspect in cases like this would be a funky video driver. See if your graphics card maker has more recent drivers for your card.
You may also see this if you graphics card is overheating, but then it would be happening all the time, not just occasionally with this map. (There are more complicated / less well optimised maps out there...)
QFT.

Other Portal 2 maps: Medusa Glare
Portal 1 maps: Try Anything Twice | Manic Mechanic

I've played your map several times, it never did it there. Just on Rainbow palace. I recently updated the graphics driver (2 days ago) and it has yet to do this again.
