How big should one map be?
Quote from Leck on December 19, 2007, 1:23 amI did some HL2 mapping when it first came out, but never really produced a finished map, cause I could never get the hang of placing enemies and stuff (which is why I love Portal mapping! )
But I never really knew how big I should make one map? What's the upper limit?

Quote from volt on December 19, 2007, 1:29 amIn terms of file size, the largest original Portal map is just over 50MB, and it's the 19th test chamber.

Quote from Mapster on December 19, 2007, 1:35 amThe maximum limit of a map would be around 50mb, but if it is that big, then it would either be SO detail that it's not funny, doesn't change map for ages or, has loads of leaks.

what we should be debating really is how many puzzles and what average play time should a map be, because those are the things that really count

Be sure that the smaller your map is the better, but if you want to add more, thats all good.!!! NOTE !!!
Adding water to your map correctly can tell if your map has leaks! No i'm not just talking about leaks as in apart of the outside black stuff is revealed into the actual map, i'm talking about entities/props that are leaked into the outside world.
