HUGE compile time. help?

I have a map I'm trying to compile, but it's taking AGES :cry:
and by ages, I mean a day, then some :(
so, some infor on the map.

portal flow, create visleafs and threadcomputeleafambient takes ages.
it has *does math* 16 x 15 floors... 240, 2 spotlights per light...
480 lights in total. 2 on each of the 8 sides, all from the GLaDOS room.
the room is big. VERY big. it's a huge cilinder 3936x3936 on the base, 8000 for the height

it has a large tube running down the centre, with fairly big entities falling down it.
the 15th floor has a massive ceiling (needed for atmosphere effects)

it has 64 elevators openings in it, evenly distributed through the entire map.
it has a massive light texture at the top of the inner tube (to give a good lighting effect to the falling entities)

anyone know why it's going so slow, even when I set it to fast? :?

(I know, BIG map, but it is a vital part of my mod)
