I couldn't find this when I made my original post, but here it is now (I guess I totally forgot to check Edit Life for it).

Nodraw is not rendered, Invisible is. It sounds weird, but Invisible is essentially a texture with no content, whilst Nodraw means no texture at all. I'd recommend Nodraw, though Invisible is more useful in some cases.

Yes, but don't. Try putting a nodraw brush in the middle of a map and tell me what happens.
