Logic Portals : GLaMS-DOS game files lost in a system crash

Page 1 of 2Next

Hi.
Due to a virus, and an unreliable fix that corrupted my hard disks, I have to say that there is no chance at the moment of seeing any Logic Portals : GLaMS-DOS, nor even Logic Portals.

I must have uploaded a playable version of GLaMS-DOS somewhere on the internet, but I'm not in the mood to recover or continue the project anytime soon. The lost of 4 years of work on other projects broke my morale.

Sorry.

If I ever find GLaMS-DOS back, I don't know what I'm going to do with it. Maybe release it, but it's not worth the play, the scenario is not the one I would have chosen as opposed to the one on the package.

Your best friend now.

I feel for you, man. I worked for a year on a portal map for GMOD, (mahalis's portalgun swep, if you've heard of it.) and lost it all when i forgot to transfer the files to my new computer. I did, however, start from the first challenging puzzle in it and use all my plans to create Aperture Science!, my current work in progress map. (see my sig.)

Don't worry, after you think of something else to tinker with, the sense of loss will cease to overwhelm you. usually.

Don't let this get you down. . .

Well it depends when you might/did upload it. If it is months in the past, I would not want to work on it anytime. If its days. . annoying but I would get it done.

Sorry that this happened. . Did it delete Windows or anything important other then Gmod projects etc. My "morale" gets broken often and what do I do? I move on. . . .

The more you give, the less appreciated it will be received.

Define "dead", most hard drive recoverys can be performed.

Worst case scenario you can send the drive to a professional drive recovery place. They can almost always get you data back.

This is true. It's amazing what those guys can recover data from and not just hard drives, any media; flash drives, CDs, DVDs internal drives on camcorders, you name it. Be prepared though as these services don't come cheap. If the hard drive isn't physically damaged you might even be able to dig the files out yourself with the right software as long as the data isn't overwritten too many times. You'll lose file names but with some work you can figure out what was what. I did this on my sisters Mac after someone deleted a years worth of important records.

Some data is worth any price.

But maybe now you'll learn about backing up. I have some files from 1997 still.

With the current prices of technology, it's worth it to get enough parts to set up a file server for yourself. Just get two 250GB hard drives in RAID 1 (or 0 if you don't want a secondary backup) on an old machine. Also, you can also run your own Apache server and host websites from your house if you really want to!
