Major technical issue here! It's sending me into depression.
Quote from CassataGames on March 9, 2008, 3:09 amSo yeah, I found out that NONE of my Source based games work what so ever. EVERY SINGLE ONE, from Half-Life 2, Ep1, Ep2, Portal, TF2, GMod, and so on, ALL give me the "HL2.exe has stopped responding."
Whats the problem? Well I've tried every single solution I can find, and I don't even know exactly when it started happening, but I know it's long before any restore points. I also truly do not feel like reinstalling Windows, especially since the whole OS can't be at fault here.
My OS is Windows Vista SP1, I upgraded to SP1 after the problem started and has had it for over a month now. As you can see, I've put myself in a nasty position where taking back stuff will cause problems and more then less likely not fix anything. Also, not to create a rude atmosphere or anything, but please spare me of any Vista non-sense, because it works fine.
I had all the updates for everything including my graphics card. I've even tried downgrading various drivers with no luck. I've tried hot fixes, I've tried everything I can think of and/or look up!
So yeah, please PLEASE help me figure this out. I truly loved these games, and as most "perfectionists" might understand, you never feel like your PC is ever running it's best whenever you have stuff like this happening. So again, please. I can't be the only person suffering from this, and none of the help on the official site is helping.[/i]

"Duct Tape is the answer."

I did however check the steam website 1 last time and tripped over an FAQ I didn't see. the "-32" command line. I tried that out last night and for the first time in 3 months I saw the Valve logo and my games actually run now!!

Quote from msleeper on March 9, 2008, 3:01 pmI am loving this series of thread where:
- Person posts a problem.
- Someone responds.
- Person replies basically ignoring the person that helped them, says something to the effect of "I'm a huge moron and I want to post about my problems before doing any research", and then requests the thread to be locked or deleted to hide their inadequacy.Lesson: Search before posting.
