Find a good private server. Odds are the players there will be more skilled even without the influx of noobs. If you do it right, playing against them will make you a better player so that you can pub around and reap tons of points out of noobs who think that Scout vs Heavy is always a win for the Heavy.
Easier, sure, but there will still surely be some challenge required. I like the balance they've struck: I think it's more true to the core of the game, mostly because it doesn't veritably require farming, which is not, per definition, TF2.

Yeah, the community achievement page just hasn't been updated to include the milestones in their tallies.
Good lord, like I suspected, the whole TF2 metagame is burning...
I have to admit I also chose Pyro, even in servers with 80% of the team already playing the class, but I got bored of it. I think I'll wait untill the Pyro madness cools down a bit before I start to get the achievements.
Already got a few, though. The WTFOMGBBQ can best be gotten with an enemy sniper. The Hadouken is the new backstab!

Me and another pyro both hit our taunt for that at the same time but somehow his killed me before mine got him 
or alternatively hide around the corner from a locked spawn door and then taunt with 1 second left untill the gates open.
The Backburner is seriously fucked. Pyros don't need the health increase, and the hit detection for "behind" is way out of whack. I don't particularly care about or want it, but I feel like I need it just to be competitive.
