I agree...I'll be chasing someone with the backburner and it still won't crit somehow. Not to mention the lower in normal damage and lack of any non-back crits. I have much more pleasure in using the flare gun and running up to them for insta-kill with the axetinguisher.

Anyone who plays spy (!msleeper) knows that TF2's back vs. front hits are completely fucked up already. Introducing a second weapon on a flawed principle seems poorly concieved. That said, it looks like fun.

But it's hard to argue that Pyros got a general buff in this patch, which I don't think was really very needed. The game felt balanced to me.

when i first played TF2, i really liked it, it didn't have ALL the stuff i loved about Quake-TF but it was a very good balance, and looked really crazy (read: cool) and it wasn't the shit-fest that TFC was... BUT: now with all the new add-ons. tacking on tons of new weapons, and the added un-balances this is reminding me more of MEGA-TF and anyone who remembers that crapcicle will laugh along with me.

TF was cool. but someone thought "It ain't broke. so lets fix it!" and developed MEGA-TF by just tackeing on a bunch of crazy stupid shit and made it just to ridiclous to play.

if this keeps going the way its going i see that happening here.

i understand why they are doing it. by making people grind you are insuring they play your product longer, but the goal of TF(2) isn't to level up, grind, or focus on "achievements" if you want that shit go play WoW or some other such rpg. this is supposed to be a military style ctf with a little more "fun" instead of realism. And allowing you classes/roles you can pick from.

in interviews, they have said that they had planned the unlcockable weapons from the beginning. it seems weird to me, because in the commentary they keep saying they want the player to know exactly what a class can do the instant they see it. not the case now

How so? I'm pretty sure I can tell exactly what a class is capable of doing. You people are talking like they gave the minigun to soldiers or a rocket launcher to scouts. The new weapons aren't upgrades at all. Everything so far as been a side-grade with equal advantages and disadvantages.

I can still tell that a Pyro will be lighting me on fire, from the front or back but I should probably try to not let him sneak up on me (that has been the same since day 1). I still know that a medic can heal teammates and after a while give them a huge buff and has a deadly melee weapon. This hasn't changed at all. This game is one of the best I've ever seen with checks and balances, no class is incredibly overpowered and no class is severely underpowered. But of course you will never hear this much because players have the tendency to hate a class when they don't know the counters for it.

Well, I guess there will be some more Medics again... that can only be good. With all the pyroes running around the Medic madness has been completely annihilated, hopefully people will switch sooner to it now.

This means I finally got the Kritzkrieg, and only need 2 more achievements for the Blutsauger :D

This is the obvious counter argument to their actions. However, I think that it's a lesser of two evils situation: the people who worked their asses off and legitimately unlocked them all number fewer than those (like myself) who would be willing to work for the greater rewards if they were more reasonably attainable.

ditto. i've actually considered trying to get lvl 2, or atleast lvl 1 medic achievements now. and depending on what it looks like when i get lvl2, i might go for 3
