no Portalgun?!

Hi there,

I was experimenting on creating a mod for portal so I downloaded this template for a portal mod here: http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki ... d_template.

I put it in my SourceMods directory and renamed it just like the readme.txt file said.
Next I opened Source SDK, the selected engine was "The Orange box" and the current game was put to my mod, so I open the hammer editor, created my first room (a simple box), put in an info_player_start entity and followed by inserting the weapon_portalgun entity but oh noes! where did the portalgun go? can't find the NPC_security_camara either.

When I tried selecting portal as current game I CAN insert the portalgun but how can i make it so that I can use the portal gun in my mod I made for portal? Am I missing a certain file?

I hope someone can help me.

I don't think this is possible.

That is very well possible. It probably just was a compile error.

Just out of curiosity, what was the problem/solution?

It wasn't a compile error.

You know when you open up you're list of entity's, somewhere you should find weapon_portalgun to make a portal gun in you're map right?
But the portal gun wasn't listed in the entity's section between the other guns.

In the options screen of the hammer editor under the tab "Build programs" the configuration was still set to half-life 2 ep. 2.
maybe that's why I only got the entity's used in the half-life 2 series and not for portal.
putting the configuration back to portal totally solved my problem somehow.

well thank you for listening to my problem anyways! :D

Ah, you tried to load a Ep2 map in Portal. Yes, that explains a lot.

No problem, you'd be amazed how many people make these kind of mistakes. I once managed to crash Portal by trying such a thing.
