Portal 2 Co-Op Map Project: COLOURS
Quote from IanB on April 30, 2011, 8:55 pmIntroducing: COLOURS #1 (of many, currently 3 others in development).

Download Here: Colours Co-Op : : Map 1
Youtube video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOz2RSH7Cp8
EDIT: This is now updated to version 1.1 which has some slight lighting fixes and now players can't trap themselves, not that any of the 1000+ players who downloaded it have trapped themselves, I'm just making sure nobody ever does.
I've now completed the first map in a series of color-themed chambers (which also happen to take place on a secret Aperture Science Moon Base!) The chambers are designed to perpetually link, one to the next.
If the next map doesn't load (because you or your partner don't have it) it then ejects both players back to the co-op hub!
Future plans:
I'm thinking of making a new co-op hub that lets players pick from either the primary co-op campaign or one of many different campaigns including Colours and any others anyone would like to have involved in the project.
Also: If anyone has any VMFs I can open that feature like... just a light bridge emitter stuck on a brush, or just an excursion funnel emitter on a brush, or just a laser emitter + catcher stuck inside of some blocks, that would be very very much appreciated! I can use these to make puzzles that go beyond just flinging, boxes, and buttons (Until an official SDK is released anyway)
I'd do the whole alienswarm SDK thing except that every time I try it it crashes and then I can't open up my VMFs U've opened in it any more!! Since I lost too much work U gave up on trying with the modded alienswarm SDK. I can see the models in the editor and everything and it should be fine but... nope! So I'm doing this the old fashioned way by creating my own unique mod with 100% custom textures! Hurray!
Let me know what you think of it!
Also if you can get it hosted on Portal2maps.net that would be dandy!Edit: I just noticed the "Community Releases" forum. I'm sorry I think that's where this post belongs and I also noticed a bunch of nice prefabs available there. Guess I should've looked around first haha!

Colours 01-05 should be available for download sometime in late may. Though up until then I will be releasing each map as I produce it.

Quote from msleeper on May 1, 2011, 2:08 pmWhere does it say that exactly? I want to know so I can edit it to be more clear.
You can upload files to the Download Database, just click "Downloads" up at the top menu. Navigate to Portal 2 and then to whichever category fits best for you, and you can upload the file there.

Quote from IanB on May 8, 2011, 5:12 pmThanks for letting me know about the download Database now whenever I update Colours with another map I can do so more easily. Sorry about any confusion.
To explain what made me think I had to appeal it for upload in the forums was when I clicked the "upload" button on Portal2maps.net it mentioned registering and saying hi in the forums.

Quote from last_ on May 10, 2011, 4:58 pmI am totally down to make a map set for your hub project. Baby steps though... I cant even get a coop spawn working.
I followed this tutorial: http://wiki.p2mods.com/index.php?title=Co-Op_Spawn_room ..but to no avail. I have rechecked everything enough times for my eyes to start bleeding. I did it just like the tutorial says.. there a bunch of entity errors.. havent started trouble shooting them because I do not want to mess it up even more.
Is the method I used overly complex, cause it sure seems to be.
If you could just tell me how you set your maps up to spawn both players that would be cool. I am using the ss_mode map_name commands to test my map. I spawn but cant move, I can look around.. I just cant move.
Talk about a pain in the arse..
