I didn't say it was superior, I can't make that assessment without playing it first. I'm just saying that you're building this up big time and when expectations are high going in, it usually crashes.

I'm really looking forward to this, but I have this expectation that it's going to be something huge, bigger and better than the original. I know you never said that, but that's the way it's coming across.

we are pleased to announce we have successfully created the main interface! :D

we now have the options:
new game
load game
developer commentary
find server
create server
options
quit
antlion (to test the menu function. this was added, then our coder had to manually add the others after seeing it worked)

we have yet to actually test the MP function, but we expect a 70% probability it will work. the actual portals etc, are yet to have been tested either. we're not sure on them.

on a side note, if anyone knows how to open PS3 games on a PC, we could really use help for that.
why? we can't say. but it will be epic :D (should we get permission to actually use it).

you're right. I can't. not alone.

however, I can. but with help from my team. an excellent team selection at that.

a very good coder, a group of 5 brilliant critics for ideas, the heads of the group, who come up with more and more ideas every day, and an advanced mapping DVD I got for my birthday.

sure, for now, it won't reach P-P's standards, or many other mod's standards. but standards are different. for now, we are making a mod to appeal to adventurers first. that is our primary goal. and our only standard for now is to suit that gaming mode.

once our adventurer template is made, we will make more versions

one for the people who like puzzles, which will be implemented in each version to fit portal's theme.

one for the type of person who likes to hear our idea of how everything fits.

then, one for the people who like survival and tense games.

we know, this is a big challenge. no, a huge, ambitious challenge.
and it won't happen overnight. we know this. we aren't stupid.

but development will get quicker once the first version is released.

the template will take a good few months to fully complete, but the following mods will get easier as we can redesign the template to suit many people's favorite gameplay modes.

this is-for now-just an adventurer mod. once we've completed it, we will work on the next mod. which will be a seperate version.

I assure you, I can't do this. but we can.

What I mean is, it's not possible to create a mod using the Portal code. It's not available. You can't change coding.

The other "mods" are just map packs.

Someone actually paid $50 for that DVD? What a waste of money (PS - The VDC has more information than any of those DVDs could fit onto them.)

In the end, we will make this mod. and I'll finally be happy in proving you and others wrong.

I have been known to surprise even professionals. It'll be interesting when I'll surprise you.

but you can decompile the files that portals runs on... i have done it... i was trying to mod portal so that the timer counted in milliseconds rather than seconds...
you can decompile all the source code to C# then edit it...
