Portal Comp Mod
Quote from Siiig on June 26, 2009, 4:14 pmI figured it was relevant to the subject of this forum =p. Recently finished a new paint job on the back of my laptop.

It sadly didn't come out as well as I had intended, but it looks good from any distance than about a foot =p.
Going to be adding orange lighting to the bottom of the computer too, with the intent of making it look like the computer is falling through a portal ^^;

You can always peel a vinyl sticker off.

I actually named my laptop GLaDOS when I got it. I considered naming it Deep Thought, but in retrospect, a name without a space was probably better.

Quote from Omnicoder on July 27, 2009, 7:13 pmWould require an external power source unless you could tap in to the laptop's battery (very hard) or you cut through and let the back of the LCD light it like the logo on Macbooks. (very hard)

(very hard)Good point. Does the back of the LCD really light up the Macbook logo? I read an article (Wired Gadget Lab, possibly) about someone who carved up the back of his laptop, lit it up, and sealed it all up again; the extra electronics made the back of the case bulge a bit, but it did look pretty cool.

You'd probably need to really know what you're doing to mod a light like that into a laptop.
