Portal Stories contest!
Quote from doubleP on October 20, 2008, 3:14 pmHey all!
Some of you may already heard of Portal Stories before, if you have you can skip the next section.
Portal Stories is a mod-in-the-making for portal. we started this project in august, It was our intention to create awesome and unique puzzles, a great story-line, stunning scenes and an unforgettable epic boss. We also wanted to involve our players as much as possible though the process of developing this mod to adept to the players wishes (taking there advice, asking them for opinions etc.). It's going pretty well so far, we designed/created some rooms, started modelling and created an addictive story full of plot twists and a feeling of satisfaction when you complete it. For more information about us you can always check our blog over here.
On to the real reason why I made this thread.
We planned 25 puzzle rooms for the game while trying to keep each room's puzzles as original as possible, but oh no! we are ashamed to tell you we are out of ideas for rooms. Our last room (the 17th) design took a whole week to make it original, fun and challenging at the same time, We could go on and on trying to design various chambers on our own (probably this will take us months) but we really squished out all of our ideas in the mod already.
As mentioned above we want players to be involved as much as possible in the making of this mod for better result, so we came up with this: A mapping contest! This allows everyone to show off there own awesome ideas AND help us big time in the making of the mod. We obviously can't just accept every idea that will be send to us so we will only pick out the best 5 design and put them into the mod. Of course if your map design gets chosen for the mod, please do not expect any big rewards. The reward of getting your map design chosen is a place in the credits and if you want you will able to test he FULL mod as soon as it's done, and of course you will praised at the front page of our blog.
For all the information/rules about the contest just check here.
For any comments/question just contact us at pieterkegel@gmail.com or simply leave a comment at the map design contest page.
Contest ends at 20 November 2008
Good luck!

Quote from Ricotez on October 22, 2008, 12:15 pmHmm, I actually had a few great ideas for maps I couldn't do much more with yet since I haven't yet finished Project MALCom's first puzzle.
Will try out a few things and see if it's plausible.

"Duct Tape is the answer."
Quote from Bulska on October 22, 2008, 5:58 pmI've got a very unique idea for a complete test chamber. I've never seen it before in any map but my own map and my brother's unreleashed map.
It will force the player to keep a portal at the beginning of the test chamber. You can also add 'checkpoints', places where the player can use both portals without the need of going back, very easily.
PM me for a detailed description of the idea. It's very basic and it allows very unique puzzles.

Quote from Bulska on October 30, 2008, 5:29 pmAbout that idea i pm'd. I'm using it myself for a pretty fun map. This map won't likely fit in your mod so I'm keeping it seperate.
However, feel free to continue using the new puzzle base I've explained. It's really something worth to try to make a map of.

Quote from doubleP on November 1, 2008, 7:30 amYeah about you're idea, I made some puzzles around it and and now I have a great design on paper. You're Idea has a pretty good chance of getting a place in the game, thank you for sending in your idea!
