Quick Question From New Member
Quote from WinstonSmith on July 13, 2009, 11:52 amHello all:
I've been mapping for Portal for over a year, but just recently have I joined TWP as a member. I feel like an idiot asking this (because I know the answer will be right under my nose), but I was wondering--exactly how do you upload files? I couldn't find any button specifically marked "Upload", and I couldn't find help elsewhere on the forums. I promise I'm not as incomptent as my question makes me sound; I'm simply new to being a TWP member.
On a side note, what are the rules regarding uploading example maps? For instance, if I have a problem with level changes and I want to upload a map to demonstrate the issue, should I place the map in the "Tutorial Maps" section?
Thanks in advance!

To upload files, you go to the download database (while being logged in) and enter the catagory you want to upload in. When you are there you should see a button that says "upload".
I'm not sure where to upload map's where you want people to help. I would upload it in the WIP section, but i'm not sure.

I do feel quite dull-witted now.

Quote from HMW on July 13, 2009, 3:06 pmIf you just need to post an example of something that is not working, it's probably more appropriate to add it as an attachment to the post explaining your problem. That way, the file is right there with your question and it doesn't clutter up the download database.
(On the "new topic" form, click "Add an attachment", click "browse", then select the file on your hard drive and click the "add" button.)
If you got a map that is not quite finished yet but you want people to test it out and give feedback, upload it to the "work in progress" category of the download database and create a new topic in the "maps and mapping" forum, with [WIP] in the title.
When your map is finished, upload it to "Released maps" and put [release] in your topic title.
One of the mods will move it to the "wip" or "release" forums whe they get around to it.
I think that covers all the bases. If you still got questions, don't hesitate to ask!
