As for not getting Delphi's avatar, it's a D&D joke. When you are near an explosion, for example, you can make a "Saving Throw" as in "Throw of the dice", and if you get a good enough roll, your character dodges or whatever so that they only take half damage from the explosion. The act of getting a good enough saving throw is referred to as "making the save" or just "saving".
At least somebody here is mostly geeky enough to get it.
I cannot wait for the day when some crazy person in an airport is yelling "JESUS SAVES!" and I get to yell the rest of the sentence afterwards.
