make sure you are saving it at the same size it will appear online. Also try .GIF instead of .JPG because jpegs compress images really horribly, or save the jpeg with a higher quality

Save it as a PNG (portable network graphic). PNGs use lossless compression, unlike JPEGs (lossy compression) and GIFs (no compression). Any browser released in the last 5 years can display PNGs, or else you really shouldn't be using it.

Edit: Back on topic, Player1's image looks like it ain't an avatar but a photograph. For reasons of heterosexuality I dunno how to give it a fair rating. I guess it is in focus and he's not making an obnoxious face or anything, so I give it a 7.

Cr00ked.

I liked mega-man.

7/10. Unique to the point where I'm not sure exactly what it is.

Espen, see attachment.

Or here's another with some blur on it

Anti-aliased shapes and erasing, ftw.

I've tried blurring before to make jagged edges look smooth but it rarely works out as well as hoped.

well... its a fractal! one that happens to look slightly like a companion cube.

if you want to see a little more of the mandelbrot fractal, then here's a video:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1619313842463920970

thing is, it goes on forever. there will never be a computer that can ever totally explore its infinite complexity. oddly, unlike many things we are familiar with, the further you go into the mandelbrot fractal, the more complicated it gets, the longer it takes to calculate, and the more interesting it is.

9/10, It's very abstract and prettyful.

EDIT: Looks like a Weighted Cube to me, after further examination.

Some stuff about mah avatar: Bonus Stage is an awesome webtoon about jerks.

Dude, epic link! Thanks! I'm proud to say I recognized all the sprites:

1. Main guy: Alex from River City Ransom
2. Leggy blondes: background girls from California Games
3. Blue riot cop: NARC. duh.
4. Kid w/ backpack and kneeless Gumby legs: Boy from A Boy and His Blob. His backpack is for jelly beans. He would feed his pet blob different flavored jelly beans to make him transform into a trampoline or an umbrella or what have you. Great game. I gotta download that shit.

And I'm starting a Classic Games thread. Join the party.

BTW, Hamster, I like the clean lines of your avatar, and it's clearly a music-loving hamster. The black box looks kinda wonky, though. 7/10. Maybe some of these avatar wizards can do a negative of your pic, making the lines black and the background white, and then set all the "outside" parts of the background transparent. That would be a 9 in my book.

Edit: Oops. A post slipped in. I really like Bonus Stage. "Why do I have to be so meta?!" You should make your avatar bigger so it would be easy to read, give more kids the tip. 7/10.

Cr00ked.

Its megaman, but I never really played any of those games.
