[Release] Aperture Discord/Test Chamber 23
Quote from xitooner on December 1, 2007, 7:18 amI was somehow able to get under your first door without getting the cube; I was poking portals to see if I could get one under the door and suddenly (witthout actually entering a portal that I could see) I was on the other side! Couldnt duplicate it though, but just for safeties sake I'd make the cubes under the door non-portable. If for no other reason than to prevent people from wasting their time like I was. . .
When in the cage with the 1st button, I could portal over the func_detail by the glass; minor texture issue.
The last fling is a puzzle;
I can get my portals into any position I desire in the room, including standing in one just over the goo with a portal up high at the beginning. . .but just cant get the momentum/angle to get over. Not seeing it right now. . .
All nicely made though!

Quote from Cyclone on December 1, 2007, 3:43 pmOkay, I'm totally and utterly stumped by the final fling. My best guess it that I have to put a portal above the goo, and then enter the second portal at an angle, but I can find no way to do this given that everything in the room is at a 90-degree angle.
Someone spoil this for me, it's driving me insane.

Quote from xitooner on December 1, 2007, 5:20 pmWeird; I did that 20 times already, crouched, etc; it MADE SENSE to do that, but I failed enough to think its not possible. But then I saw you do it, and it worked for me the 2nd time. . .

Quote from Adair on December 1, 2007, 5:43 pmNice video, I like your map even more after seeing it.
I did the part with the ceiling crusher differently though:
I placed one portal on the ceiling as close to the door(err, not door, but hole in the wall) as possible. The other portal I placed so that it was on the floor behind me when I pressed the button, but far enough behind me so that I could make a full jump+crouch into it. To land on that ledge you have to jump+crouch so that your almost, but not quite, jumping over the floor portal, so that you fly into the far side of it.
I also thought I had tried the intended method on the final fling enough to rule it out. Now I have to go try it again. ;P

Quote from Volatile on December 3, 2007, 3:50 pmFor the
ceiling crusher part, I just put a portal on the wall to the right (the player's right) of the hole in the wall, then a portal next to the button you press, and then I simply crouch-jumped into it. Didn't know what the purpose of that glassed off area was.
I liked the map, by the way. I'm one of those people that was too dumb to figure out the
catcher puzzle. I thought you had to bounce the orb down the "corridor" and into the catcher somehow. I didn't realize there was a portalable wall next to the catcher receptacle. Also, I spent so much time trying to use the terminal velocity fling to get up to the grate so I could portal through it, which I eventually did. Then I watched your spoiler video and...d'oh.
And I would've never gotten past the last fling if I didn't watch the spoiler video. It just didn't occur to me that that'd be possible. You learn something new every day, I guess.
Quote from Ryanocerous on December 5, 2007, 7:58 pmAfter getting stuck on the final fling, and watching that youtube video, I was finally able to pass this map. Replaying it, I noticed I was able to exploit a few things pretty easily. I was able to bring the cube with me through every part of the map by
shooting portals half way under doors/fizzlers and by doing that I could easily wallclimb past the final fling.
I even managed to get the cube on the elevator, which was a little harder to do than the other ones. I wished it was a companion cube!
Other than trying to break the map, I had a blast. Looking forward to more.

Quote from Lorithad on December 5, 2007, 8:14 pmHah. During testing of the map, I brought the cube with me as well. And while you do have to use an exploit to get it to the end, it's a fun exploit, that I don't mind using for replay value
