Quote from Aldéz on May 11, 2009, 5:50 amThanks for the demo file, it was fun to watch. What's even more fun is that my time, by solving the puzzels the conventional way, is better than yours . However, I must admit that I used the quicksave and quickload functions. I guess you think that's cheating, but hey, those functions are not exploatation of any bugs . My ambition wasn't to make a straight, fair speedrun, but to make a good assumption of how fast such a speedrun would be. As you wrote, many things can go wrong. Tip:
look at the lines between the floor tiles and the shadow of the cube to get a 45 degrees angle.
(it felt like it did because of the times I was getting). Oh and save/loading is by no means cheating haha, I generally don't do it because it becomes a different type of speed run.
The most frustrating thing was the turret hallway,
I'm only guessing, but do you use the energy ball to knock them down?
Quote from Aldéz on May 11, 2009, 3:34 pm
No, I don't use the energy ball to knock them down. That would be practically impossible. You can see the solutions I had in mind when I created the map in this walkthrough video I made.
Quote from Siiig on May 11, 2009, 5:30 pmI took your advice and did a save/load run. This is what I came up with haha. Dunno how this compares to your best, but I'm pretty happy with this...now just need to do it in one run =X

Quote from Kich867 on May 13, 2009, 1:47 amWell, typically save loading is not cheating but, you can certainly do it to perform a special glitch known as the Save/Load glitch, it basically lets you walk into a wall since the game saves thinking you're inside of it, as if the wall is a flat surface underneath you. It gives you a new walk-way, but there aren't a whole lot of places to use it very effectively where just doing the map normally wouldn't be the same speed/faster.

Quote from Kich867 on May 20, 2009, 11:13 pmSo far, it took me 22 demo's, but I was able to complete the map in 17 portals. When I get around to getting Fraps I'll take a few hours to get a video together; lots of item climbing and portal tunneling to do it.
Unbelievably well-made map sir.
Gold standard: 31 portals
Portal count: 17
Estimated total time: 14-20 hours, between retake after retake to get parts done and staring at the puzzles for about two or three hours each to make absolute sure I used as few portals as possible.

I wonder what people will consider cheating next. I'm glad this place isn't the standard hehe.

Quote from Siiig on May 21, 2009, 3:34 pmIgnore claims of cheating *shrug* if they don't like it, ask the map makers to make the walls harder to item climb on. Were here to help, and to have fun, we have fun using our glitches. Me and kich love competing with each other, and if you guys don't want to step to our league of competition, quite frankly you wont be missed.
