Rereleasing map with custom content
Quote from Konke on August 24, 2015, 8:15 amI've just finished my update for my map and I've added a custom song and also edited a text file in order to get my info sign showing exactly what I want to.
I wonder how it works and what one needs to do before releasing the updated map again on Steam. I've made some search on Google and it seems that there are different methods. Different packing programs. I'm not sure which one's most up to date nor which one's the best or easiest.
I'd really appreciate if someone would be so kind and help me out with further information on this last step of my map

However, you will be able to pack your custom song only, not the lightboard info text file, that won't work.

Quote from CamBen on August 25, 2015, 10:19 amWell you could put them in a zip file and release them on twp instead of the workshop, but that's probably not what you were looking to do. The text file doesn't work because the game reads those on startup, so packing a new one ingame won't do anything.

Quote from josepezdj on August 25, 2015, 1:54 pmJust make a custom lightboard sign texture. You could do from scratch, or use Omnicoder's signmaker app, search for it here at the "other files" category inside the portal 2 downloads

Quote from Konke on August 26, 2015, 4:05 amYeah, I've come across it before and checked a tutorial. Sadly I recall thinking it wasn't as good as the original. Perhaps it's not possible in any other way :/

Quote from josepezdj on August 26, 2015, 4:06 pmWell, I think it's pretty nice for being a workaround. Do me a favour, search from amongst my posts entering the key words "custom info sign". There will be 4 posts. Check out the bottom one (the oldest one in time). I attached an example map with a custom lightboard probably using the same method than the one you watched in that tutorial video. Check it and let me know your opinion
EDIT
This is the link to that post with the custom lightboard files attached.
