sound cant create mixer.

well im doing something alittle different. using the dlc3 method; i replaced every single announcer voice line with my own terrible voice acting just for the heck of it. problem is; all that effort is wasted because it cant create a mixer. every single file is mono 44100khz 16 bit and it still doesnt work. i've tried updating the audio cache and even rebuilding it. i cant figure out whats wrong, unless it simply doesnt work in dlc3.

I've had this issue before but forget how I solved it. What file type is it?

When life gives you lemons, make apple juice and have everyone wonder how you did it.

.wav files. I found that they work in maps that use ambient generic to play the lines, just not the vcd that the main game uses. (for example, in the map pack "into the multiverse" i was pleasently surprised to hear my voice instead of the announcer, lol)

Try renaming your sound file to something with one word. (Don't use "name_name_name". Don't use "name name name" Use one name).

Or try re-creating the ambient_generic, if that's what you're using, sometimes that fixes up the mixer error.

Maybe try copying the contents of your wave into a base game working portal 2 sound and using that

That would be great if I was mapping. But I'm not. If you read my op carefully, you'll know I replaced the dufault portal 2 announcer lines with my voice. When I play valve maps it does not work. Sp_a1_intro1 for example.

OK, did you archive a new pak01_dir.vpk? Just asking even though you most likely did, because otherwise I don't know.

I used the dlc3 folder. Of course I made a new pak01_Dir.vpk.

Is anyone reading the op?
