Quote from soad667 on February 19, 2012, 1:00 pmNice map, just finished it. With careful planning i wouldn't say i found it that hard. At first it got me a bit frustrated cause i didn't even notice
there is a second laser cube that you can get using the laser. Btw, it's possible too with just one cube, but you have to be really quick, to spin and shoot a portal before the fizzler re-appears.
At the part
where you get the second laser cube, i found weird that what looks like a wall from one side becomes a fizzler looking it from behind, so you can get out. It would feel much better if this wall was auto-opening/closing when you just reach it from behind.
Oh, and one last thing, not sure if its about your map or the game just glitched. When i tried to pass a cube through a portal, the cube started shaking a bit and just vanished, not fizzled or anything.
The portal was placed at the first white wall you see after opening the door with the four laser catchers.
Except these issues, i found it quite enjoyable. Thanks for making it.

Quote from silic on February 19, 2012, 1:08 pm#1
i know you can do that with quick timing, but i thought i would leave that in place... might change it however to stop this from happening...
#2
the wall you mention was a put in after i realised you Could get trapped.. should have made it better in the first place, but i guess wanting to release the map to see how people find it made me just quickly bodge it...
#3 - i dont think thats a glitch with the map? Im not even sure how its happened.. ive just spent the last 5 minuites trying to re-create and failing... :/

Quote from benvent on February 19, 2012, 1:14 pmI solved it using both laser cubes. I dont think I opened the final door to the exit elevator as intended though.
I grabbed the cube from the previous holder and got it through the door before it closed and used it to open the last door.
Edit: I went back and did the last part without losing my portals and didnt have to steal the cube to get to the exit.

Quote from soad667 on February 19, 2012, 1:18 pmYeah, about #3, it was probably Portal2 going wild. Couldn't recreate it myself neither.
About #1, i don't mind "alternative solutions" as long as they don't have to do with glitches or huge shortcuts. It's not that bad here at all, so keeping it in wouldn't hurt.

need to do some modifications it seems... lol

Quote from OnePortalizedGal on February 19, 2012, 1:54 pmWell let me start off by saying that I really enjoyed this. It flowed smoothly, but there was alot of work to do to get to the solution. Map looks great, puzzles were thought provoking - normally I don't like laser puzzles, but I did enjoy this. Wheatly humor was a plus. The only beef I have is at the end:
I really had no idea I would need both cubes to get the doors open - ok my mistake - but that should have been clearer.
Your hard work did pay off - 5/5. Thanks for making!

Quote from silic on February 19, 2012, 2:01 pmjust updated it, hopefully its not tooooo hard now.
Updated to v1.0.1
- Installed a new wall to hopefully make getting first cube harder
- installed some new shiny hinters, to say where to get cubes from
- cut the timer from 2 seconds to 1.6 seconds, hopefully stopping using just 1 cube to get the exit door opened
- removed glitch where you could cheat having just one cube to get all the way to exit
- added new part to get second cube, increasing difficulty of getting this cube by a fair amount. Was origonal idea on how to get the cube before i realised that you could cheat my method and get around it easier.... now.. back to my method and my method only >:)Thanks for the response,
Hey, the 2 cubes for the end is suppose to be a fun way to make the player have to rethink their strategy.. thinking that only 1 extra door is what is needed to get to the end. as to the smoothness of the map, i intended one room to have to flow to the other, while making you use everything at your disposal to complete the map.Ive increased the difficulty since you play tested this, which may bring more frustration into the game. however all the update is, is increased difficulty on getting first cube, and second cube. Third remains the same as it is not that obvious on how to get it in the first place.
Cheers for the feedback, and it is appreciated
Note: I do not want this to be so hard that noone can complete it. hence i used hinters in the map to
show certain placements
... however, if my latest modifications have made the map too hard, i may cut back on them.

Quote from Random on February 19, 2012, 2:17 pmI like the balanced difficulty level, it flowed well. It seems like there were multiple ways to do some of the smaller steps, but nothing huge was skipped easily, so a little freedom was nice.
Aesthetics could have been more detailed. Did you build cubemaps? The faithplate and "elevator" seemed to be lacking them. Oh, and you could shove objects down through the space below the faithplate.
One bit I didn't like was the touchy angles for getting the 2nd laser cube. After tweaking it to open the door I discovered it wasn't going to hit the receiver through the fizzler, and had to go back again until I got it just right.
I too was a bit confused by the one-way fizzler. It seems like it could just be a normal fizzler, or put it slightly high so you can't go in but can get out.
Overall it was enjoyable.Ohh, you just updated it, now I have to play it again.

Quote from FourthReaper on February 19, 2012, 2:22 pmWhat can I say, awesome map Silic!
I solved the map just like benvent did, by aiming a cube at the last catcher while strolling through the door. The last part was evil!
Still, I liked so many concepts in this map, like having to sacrifice one cube and call it back later to get the first redirection cube.
I don't usually download completely clean test chambers (prejudice mostly) but I'm really glad I downloaded this one. Keep 'em coming!
