TF2 driver error

My computer can run TF2 fairly easily, but whenever I kill someone or cause a explosion, I get a driver error and my computer restarts. TF2 is the only game that does that, so is it something about the graphics that does it or is it that I need a better card?

Updating drivers would make sense, but I doubt a 5200FX would have any new drivers.

I don't lag, I own so much it takes a few seconds for the server to figure out what the hell I just did.

Updating drivers should always be first on your list. Check that out and then post.

But I wouldn't expect excellent tech support here. Maybe the Steam forums?

It's not a problem with the "quality" if your card. Something is not working as intended. Either software (drivers, operating system) or hardware (the card itself). If it's the latter, it's probably because of damage from overheating, in which case it's time for a new card.

Do you have an NVidia video card? I would check your power supply to make sure it's got the power you need to run it. That's the single biggest problem with the higher end cards. Also there's a problem with the nvidia drivers not spinning up the fans properly. You should probably install RivaTuner and use that to sense and control your temps and fans.

And go to guru3d.com to get your latest drivers. They also have a good forum for this kind of support there.

Good luck!

So THAT'S how you do that!

as I said in my first post, I have a 5200FX (just found out its FX5200)

I did manage to find new drivers, so I'll see if that works, after re-installing TF2.

Also, this happened to me once on CS:S (before new drivers), so it can't be something about the graphics in team fortress that did it.

Except that TF2 and CS:S share the same base graphics engine?
