TF2 mapping

PreviousPage 3 of 4Next

It took me ages to figure out there was a tf and portal keyword now, it just didn't occur to me.

One thing i forgot to mention is texture variance - very important, but don't go over the top. Going OTT is harder than being minimalistic, so just go crazy :)

Use info_overlay instead.

Just spent half an hour with dad trying to get a server to work with no sucess.
We opened routes through both firewalls and the router on port 27015. Ran TF2 and used the 'create server' option in-game. The game would load up and connect me to a game as I would expect but i load up the server list and my server isnt there and my handy friend assistant couldnt see it fom his pc either.
Is there some missing step i need to take? Are you sure it's port 27015?
Basically any help would be hot.

Software Firewall, like WIndows' built-in or Zone Alarm, et al.?

Yes...But did you forward the ports?

If nessesary, you might need to use the dedicated server program. It's pretty small, and you can run that + the game at the same time with no problems.

Shmitz, just went on cp_science_b3.
Excelent map, Really good layout I especially like the idea of attacking the player with that beam thing once they capture the final cp.
All it needs is more little details and to go mainstream.

If anyone is interested in my map check here:

We run a test every couple of days at 1-3am(GMT)

What about typing "sv_lan 0" in the game console while being in your server?

Made Logic Portals in early 2008. Making diportals in 2011.
Author of Minecraft mods (MAtmos, Minaptics, NoteSlider) and Garry's Mod addons (Gunstrumental, SharpeYe, GarryWare, DepthHUD).

Its a little less simple then that. (sv_lan defaults so 0 unless you tell it not to - ie when compiling and testing from hammer)

But I've got it on the Colts Playground server and we run "off peak" tests which is great.

Whilst your router is a likely culprit in your server issues, there is a chance that ZoneAlarm may be the problem.

I have encountered games in the past that will not work as servers unless you set zonealarm's internet security settings to "medium" instead of "high".

This removes zonealarm's stealth settings and makes your computer more visible, to allow things like ICMP(ping), whilst still keeping your computer protected.

Im not sure if any of this applies to TF2, but it is worth a try.
