Triggering sound

how would i trigger a gunshot sound so that it sounds like a gunshot in a different room? i know to use tools/toolstrigger, but I dont know what to do next

ambient_generic probably would be your best bet.

And place the Ambient_Generic in that other room. And make sure the flag "Play Everywhere" is UNchecked.
