See that's exactly the problem, Vista is the only OS that supports DX10 and you need DX10 for the latest and greatest graphics. Microsoft clearly has an unhealthy stranglehold on the market. And PortalFan77 I disagree with you about Vista being good and about XP being obsolete. I use XP and probably the majority of gamers do due to it using less resources to run. The fact that DX10 only runs on Vista is just a stunt to get more sales for their crappy WAY overpriced OS.

I got Vista free with my PC, also XP loses support from Microsoft I think at the end of this year, therefore it is Obsolete. No more support, the XP license wont be sold anymore and it will be "illegal" for companies like Dell, HP, and others to sell XP on their PCs.

Windows 95 is obsolete because a statistically insignificant portion of users actually run it. Windows XP, not so much. I know that, for me, I have no incentive to upgrade to Vista and specific incentives to stick with XP, so I likely will. I know where everything is and am able to quickly go into power user mode and start tweaking things in XP that I would have to search for in Vista.
And PortalFan77, your post reads like a fanboy screed. You offer no specific criticisms and instead throw things into extreme contrast by simply saying one thing "sucks" and another thing is "best". Without any details or elaboration, this opinion is apparently baseless.
For example, list what it is that Linux doesn't have (gaming, I'm sure). Also, in what ways do you find Vista superior to XP? That sort of thing.

i like the Protos more than the Marines myself... but thats just my opinion.. mostly cuz i like those airships that let out a billion little air attack thingies..
but as far as vista/xp debate goes. i WILL stick with xp-pro cuz its free (ie: came with my system) and its good enough. and everything i ~need~ works with it. when/if i ever buy a new system it will probly have some version of vista on it. so will go with that. but. keep this in mind. My uncle is Retired IBM he's like 70 something but he's still hella 1337 when it comes to computer crap and he ALWAYS has the newest/bestest ext. he had xp before it was released, and he had vista before it was even outta beta (he's got some inside connection where he gets to beta anything he wants basically) anyway. he swears by vista. so. even though i've never used it. i'm sure its what/where it needs to be. just don't use it cuz i ain't paying umpteenbillion dollhairs for any piece of software that comes for free on a "new" system
