so don't worry about it and go finish your map

Quote from Cyclone on May 24, 2008, 4:38 pmLooking good!
A few things I notice:
- Is it just me, or is there something weird about that cube? It looks more 3D or something.
- The fizzler looks kind of strange to, like there's some sort of other field across it. New gameplay mechanic, perhaps?
- Your buttons have no indicator strips. I really, really hate buttons that don't have indicator strips.
- Why would they have a window to the outside world right there in the test chamber? Seems like it might provide an escape rout - just fling a cube hard enough that the glass shatters (given the cold temperatures, that wouldn't be too hard), and run like hell.
- Is Omega Labs a (likely top-secret) part of Aperture Labs, some kind of subsidiary research center, or a new force altogether? I'm guessing the first one, as your cube still bears the Aperture Logo... so what is the Omega Project?
This looks more promising with each new screen shot - keep them coming!

Quote from Doomsday192 on May 24, 2008, 4:43 pm- Its a custom skin i made for it
- Yes it is a new mechanic
-I usually add indicator strips in the later stages of a map
-Think about it, would you really WANT to escape? its the middle of winter in the mountains of alaska... not exactly the best place you wanna be stuck in
-Yes, its basicly like a side company to aperture science, e.g. its run by aperture, shares aperture technology, but uses its own logo and location.
And the omega project is just the name of the map series

IF you escape... they don't even waste a bullet on you... you WILL die.

Quote from Sleepwalker on May 24, 2008, 6:54 pmIf you WERE to make it so the player could escape, maybe you could include 1 or 2 outside levels. Perhaps something caused an explosion, and the lab was reduced to rubble. That would provide lots of surfaces to portal on, and you could also start some fires as well. Say a player got too far away from a fire source, they would start taking damage cause of the cold or something like that. Tell me if you think this is stupid or not -_-.

Quote from rellikpd on May 24, 2008, 7:33 pmthats a nice dynamic.
also you could make it outsidish but still limit the players movement and field of view by having "snow wall walkways" and thats conceivable in a snowy environmentthink: Taller walls than this
but maybe smaller walls than this:
