[WIP] [WIP] [WiP] Could Have Added Other Shades
Quote from RustyDios on March 14, 2014, 5:43 pmThe first map I have felt comfortable releasing to the public, after a year+ of tinkering with Hammer. Created fully in Hammer and with various help from around these forums already.
A simple map consisting of four small puzzle chambers each with a unique theme and a main hallway hub to connect them. Should be pretty easy.
Credits -
- LPFreaky90 - Red / Death Fizzler Field
- FourthReaper - yellow/purple/green Fizzler fields
- Skotty - Screen Button No Arrow model
- Zivi7/Josepezdj/LPFreaky90 - Skybox Models, Various
- TWP - TWP Logo - Not 100% sure where I got it !?! - Sorry Author !

Quote from RogerL on March 14, 2014, 10:44 pmThis was a nice set of puzzles. They start off easy and get progressively harder. I don't think they will challenge many people here, but it should find wide appeal. Color-coding the doors and chambers was a nice touch. I found a few odd things that occurred, but no real game breakers. The entry elevator didn't open until I moved forward, when they usually just open automatically. I kept getting momentarily stuck when I went through any of the doors; I don't know if I was getting stuck on the door-frame or you temporarily threw up an invisible barrier or what. There was a long delay between stepping on the elevator platforms and their moving. None of these things are significant, but it makes for a bit of an odd playing experience. There was some odd behavior in the final chamber, which might be more problematic. When I was playing around with what everything did, I put the sphere on the floor button and raised the cube button. I then placed the cube above the button using the bridge. When I moved the bridge and the cube dropped, it landed in the button, but then the sphere jumped off of the button and the cage dumped over. I'm not sure why; maybe I didn't fully understand the mechanics of the system. But I got the cube in there
using the faith plates
as I think you intended and I was able to complete the puzzle.

Quote from RustyDios on March 15, 2014, 4:55 amWow, I'm shocked you noticed the delay in the doorways! I might have to adjust that, there is a 1/5th (0.2) of a second delay/pause by a game_ui whilst the door logics open in the correct order. I placed it in because sometimes (1 in every 100 ish) if moving too fast the door opens before the world portal that links to the next part... resulting in the player seeing a grey wall dead end section, and on even rarer occasion getting stuck, it just looked/felt like poor quality...
I think there was a 1.5 second or so delay on the triggers for the piston platforms. I've done that purely so people can get into place before they move. If more people think this is too long, I'll shorten that a bit.
The last room, once the cube/ball are located in their respective buttons the cage shouldn't dump over. I had intended for either method you mentioned but not really considered someone using the ball to hold the floor button down, when with both methods you can stand on that button to bring the cage up. Might look into that, might have been a timing issue.
Happy you was able to complete the puzzle. Thankyou for playing !

Quote from quatrus on May 18, 2014, 7:32 pmNice mapping. Puzzles were not too hard. The delays on doors, platforms and the invisible fizzler screens were a bit odd, usually almost instant...otherwise makes one think that they are not active and might back away....
In the last chamber, I didn't use the faith plates - sorry
just dropped the ball and cube from the bridge
. Ending was rather abrupt on getting into the elevator...again delays getting to the elevator not necessary...
All in all, well done - enjoyed your maps....

Quote from radelite on May 28, 2014, 12:35 amThis map was ok but there was one main thing that could have been better that I am not sure if you updated or not
was door timing and having to squeeze through the surrounding wall to get through
Other than that it was a pretty fun map and I hope to see more from you.
