I dont know if my portal had an render error or something, but that looked sometimes very strange...

What's funny, is that portal 2 DID have a render problem. the refractive glass texture is actually the result of improperly packing a custom material into the bsp, but i left it alone because people seemed to like it on the workshop. glad you like the style! i was going for something completely outside the box for this.
