i hate how everyone decompiles valve's portal maps and steals the magestic creations in them and release them as prefab packs. i only use the portal maps to show me how to make something, then i make them by scratch. so here is a my first poll. WARNINGi might despise youWARNING

%of people who study what Valve have made, then build from scratch their own prefabs - 99.99%

Also, "everyone" would mean everyone, including you, so you contradicted yourself in your own statement.

If you are complaining about people using ready made prefabs instead of creating their own, the same theroy could apply to the textures used in Portal. People would have to make their own to look just like Valve's textures, instead of using the one's provided, to avoid any scourn.

I would like to also add, that in other Valve games, Valve themselves have provided prefabs with the SDK for that game, so using prefabs cannot be bad.

and actually this editor (which started out as World Craft years ago for Quake 1) has been doing this since its inseption. ALSO: even the basic shapes are in a way prefabs... cylinder, arch (Especially arch) are just prefabed shapes...

plus your poll isn't really directed towards your angst.. which is people who decompile maps just to make prefabs out of them. which. would actually be more work than just making your own prefabs to begin with.

I think you're getting a bit muddled, I use prefabs in portal, I made them myself rather than making ones out of the decompiled maps. Your post and your poll are quite different.

This is like the 10th thread we have about prefabs.
