Community Spotlight Jun 30 2011!

Map pack uploaded to Steam Workshop! (7.9.2012)

This map pack has three maps that get progressively harder. Every map have 2 chambers so there are total 6 chambers!
I used basic clean style in these maps.

FAQ:

Q: How to install?
A: Put .vpk to steamapps/common/portal 2/portal2/addons
If you don't have "addons" folder yet, make one. Then use console in Portal 2. (Read readme)

Q: Exit elevators do not work!
A: They do, you just have to stay there for about 20 seconds. (Bug in Valve instance I guess...)

Q: I waited 20 seconds but no help!
A: Use console then

Looks like there is a compression problem.. Readme.txt can be extracted, the .vpk not.
"Invalid compressed data to inflate."

E3: Okay TWP link works now. Use it!

There is a weird problem that 90% times I upload something here it will get corrupted. It works just fine on my computer. I have to try upload it again and again untill it works. I can upload files anywhere else without problems though.

Use dropbox link untill I get twp link working.

E: Actually, it also corrupted a file I tried to upload to myaperturelabs. Weird stuff :S
E2: I try using another computer to upload files as soon as possible.
E3: So the fault was in my computer. Is there any reason what could cause it? I have been using different programs to compress and different browsers to upload. Randomly it have worked... Also I can use dropbox just fine.

:S? I have no idea what that error means... I just tried this map and it worked fine (I downloaded it here and removed maps from /maps folder)

Or did you answer my question ? Well I still don't really know what it means.
E: Well I Googled it... dunno if it is part of this problem. But the map should work now so go try it!

MrLate, is it possible to upload it uncompressed if apparently the process is breaking it?

I can't because .vpk:s are not allowed to be uploaded .. The file gets corrupted during the upload, it works fine on my computer. I have used CCleaner to fix registry and I try to upload something later to see if it fixed the problem.

But the file should work now (uploaded it from another computer), can anyone confirm this?

MrLate, there is something wrong with your PC. You're the only person who has ever had these problems.

I know and I have stated it in my posts above. Can we talk about the map now? (If it is fixed)

Six chambers of goodness, like a Colt 45. Mini campaign arranging 6 short maps in Clean, each virtually flawless and gravitating around Valve accessible difficult - which translates into easy-medium for beginners, and none-easy to practitioners. Only puzzles which stunned us for some minutes were the lightbridge and ball ones, requiring timed coordination.

We had a lot of fun on these maps (for a good >20 mins), which might seem banal to state but rare enough to surprise us when it happens. But we honestly marveled at the ending elevators not working, we supposed to be brought to the next map automatically.

They do work, it just take some time. I used instances Valve provided so the problem is probably in them.
E: Calculated and it takes 20-22 seconds.

And yeah, thanks for playing

I tried again with ss_map and it worked immediately. Not sure why, in coop we just stood there as when the start elevator bugs.

I tried it once with my friend and level changed. Otherwise I have tested in split screen mode and level have also changed (with that delay which is weird). I am testing now again and I also rename custom script I have to change maps so it uses the one in the .vpk.

E: Okay, so the map changes in ss_ mode. I also noticed that 2nd map is slightly older version. Newer one have tweaked visuals.
E2: Uploaded it. It doesn't change the gameplay so no really need to try it if you have beaten the map

I have played this just now with my brother. It was good enough except the last puzzle where millisecond-precision was required in order for the second player to catch the ball while flinging. Timed puzzles - noclipped. I hope that was not the solution and we just missed something.

Just played them, really have nothing bad to say. Very well made and enjoyable. Will post videos of the play-through shortly.

There was no split-second precision required in the last one, at least how I did it.

Not really walkthroughs, although they do obviously show the solutions, just in a needlessly long manner

Did you press the button, then portaled & ran to the platform? If so, that was a very hard alternate solution: the intended way was to press the button, then use the catapult on the way back to save time.
