Update v1.1

ebola, just a heads up that the Downloads database is still serving up your previous version of the map; the .bsp file in the .zip is dated June 6. I think this is related to a bug in the database that requires the .zip file to be renamed for new versions. Looking forward to playing the update! Thanks!

This map was amazing! Thanks so much for making it!

About the 'rubble' blocking the lasers in the last room: I didn't find it to be in the way, nor did I need to put a portal on the wall to aim the cube perpendicular to the wall. Instead I stood against the wall and aimed the first box at about a 30 degree angle from the wall back towards the source of the beam, and then I put the second box somewhere next to the rubble to aim it down the hallway and hit the lone actuator. From there the beam was portalled to go through both actuators by the door.

In the walkthrough video above, I noticed in the last room he could shoot a portal across from the funnel while standing on the 'second floor' area. I think you should make that impossible. It makes you think a little harder for the solution that I used.

Here's a screenshot I took of the laser solution I used in case that description was confusing:

For those who are interested, I would like to share the design thought-processes I went through during the development of this map. I have compiled it into a document for my portfolio.

Thank you all once again for the wonderful feedback. If you liked this map, please share it with your friends who have not yet played and also invite them to this community.

well I used this method too

also, when you supposed to launch the 2 cube to the buttons, and I only found one cube, I launched myself (and dropped the cube on the other faithplate using a portal) and when the crusher went up I just ran thru under it

This maps looks great! I loved the first two puzzles but the third one got me frustrated enough to noclip around. And then I gave up. I just couldn't figure out how to get back to the reflectocube from the room with the cube dropper that needs laser.. If anyone wants to spoil this for me maybe I'll like it better. I still think a little more playtesting would have given this map the little extra that the professional maps have. Overall, very good job!

Edit: I saw the walkthrough video, and I only needed two little hints. My opinion is a tad more favorable now, after the frustration wore off.

I liked all of the puzzles except for the last one, I couldn't figure out how to get the laser to hit all 3 reflector thingies. I used the jumppad to get me enough momentum to jump over the gap :\

Really enjoyed getting the cube up to speed and blasting it straight down the hall at the turrets.

I enjoyed this part too. Very creative puzzles, nicely done.

Hi, I enjoyed your map a lot, but I think I found an unintended solution in room 3. I never thought of pointing the beam to the right and redirecting it to the left with a portal, like I've seen in the video posted earlier. So after being stuck on "how do I get the beam to the receiver in the other room" for a while, I tried something more direct.

I hope the screenshot is clear enough :

Heh, that was my method to solving that part. :p

Also, some unrelated fun, in the room before the final test chamber with the overhead decay. You can maneuver up and over the debris, and with some help from the blue beam in the next room, send yourself up to the glass ceiling all the way up top. The view isn't anything to write about, but it's cool just for the sake of doing so. (At least I thought so)

Hey, just wanted to let you know its possible to get stuck in the second chamber.

If I were to go through the orange portal I would be stuck in that area (happened to me so I thought I'd let you know about it.)

Great Map. I really enjoyed the simplicity and difficulty of this map. Although the puzzles did take some thought and backtracking to solve, they were not brain hurting nor aggravating. Thanks for the entertainment

Hi, Great map.
I see you are not around here anymore, but I will post it anyway.
First off all, I will not even try to guess how much work you put in to this map. I only started with Hammer. That being said, this is my feedback:
- I really liked the part with the 2 cubes placed on a wall projector beam so they simultaneously hit the 2 buttons. The fact that you can stage something and then with one action to have multiple consequences is something original and not even in portal 1 and 2 single campaign you don't see that(not that I can remember). You were more creative than the designers of Portal with that one
- I don't like post-apocalyptic chambers but this one were OK.
- The difficulty level is not intermediate but advanced how others has stated here. You mentioned that is harder than Portal 2 Single player campaign but according to Valve scale your map is still Intermediate. It is an Official valve scale? Please tell me about it . On my scale if is harder than SPC is Advanced difficulty.
- Chamber 3: very brain squashing. The phase with the laser was very hard to think of even the solution was relatively simple. I don't like the fact that you can direct the laser through the glass and activate the mechanism; I think is a glitch. I know you like your maps to have multiple solutions but this feels more like cheating.
That is for now. I will come back with screen-shots and a video to illustrate more clearly.

PS. I have read your "tom-chiu_patent-pending_design-introspection" and I can see that you put a lot of thinking in this project Congrats for winning the competition man!
