A medium-length portal 2 map in a unique wintry environment.

NOTES:
This map was made in a week, so it's not perfect. If you find any bugs, let me know in the thread.
Also included is a wallpaper featuring content from the map, created by myself as well. If you like it, check out my deviant art page for more portal 2 wallpapers.
Finally, have a Merry <Holiday Name Here>, a Happy New Year, and a very Happy <Holiday Name Here>. Thanks for playing!

A very nice map! Excellent voice acting

One bug I did find though. I was able to skip activating the crushers by using the faith plate. If you jump down to the floor around the plate, then walk onto the plate and continue holding forward as you fly, you'll land on top of the crushers and be able to walk directly to the cube. Perhaps you could remove the floor around the plate?

EDIT: Actually, you can still do it if you jump straight down onto the plate with almost no forward motion at the beginning

One week?! I envy your awesomness. I loved it! Though that last part had me stuck and I couldn't figure out how to position the laser to hit that cube in the ice, so I just noclipped through the end of the door

btw that is probably the best GLaDOS impression I've heard to date!

Wow, turrets with santa hats is something i always expected from Valve to do around the holidays. Kinda easy, but still amazing work with all the <Holiday Name Here> stuff around. Btw, i had no problems with the last part. Mentioning it, because i saw above people had problems with it. Place one portal at the laser's level, the other at the frozen cube's level (not many places to throw portals at) and use the cube you get from the dispenser to hit the frozen cube with an angle.

Nice map! Did it all in about 10 minutes, but was a great fun map. I too had no real problem with the last part; thought it was a really satisfying little puzzle, but not too difficult. Here's a screenshot to go with soad667's explanation for anyone who really is stuck (spoiler, obviously):

One thing - I did have some random graphical glitching in a couple of places - something I'd best describe as scratchy white lines flashing across the screen. Only for a couple of seconds or so.

Excellent holiday theme map. Enjoyed it....Thanks for creating.
Glitch? I did get some laserlike flashes periodically - the snowflakes? didn't affect function....

That is just Source hatting the map because it has a lot of displacements (Or maybe improper?) along with Portals. I'm sure if you fire Portals in something like INFRA, you'll get the artifacts as well.

I think it's a new fashion statement . . that was GREAT - LOL ! !

SantaTurret.jpg

As far as the map - when I saw it was over 60 MB I was very excited, thinking it was a long, difficult set of puzzles. It was actually kinda short, which all the graphics sort of clued me in on. But I would love to see something like this with a full set of rooms and tricky puzzles. It's just such a wonderful place to be that you don't wanna leave. I was disappointed when it ended. Which means it was really great. Ice and snow are not easy to work with - fantastic work.

Hey dude,

I love Portal and want to collect some gameplays (first blind run), speedruns and bug reports.
My records should help you to understand how the player thinks.
Well, I hope I can support you with my uploads to fix any bugs and make new awesome maps.

Here are yours!

Not actually hard to play, but the awesome point: BIGGEST ENJOYMENT FOR MY EYES!
The design is so great!!!

  • little graphical bugs ("spiderwebs") ...watch the gameplay to see

THX for mapping...

Keep it up!

I love the aesthetics of this map and puzzles. I was kind of confused about the redirection cube in the ice, I thought you had to melt it.
But anyway, great map 5/5

A very nice map. I enjoyed this thoroughly!

The only thing I really have to say is in the second test chamber, the laser cube is stuck in the ice. I realize now you aren't supposed to even touch it, but I tried to get it out of there because I could grab it.

Excellent map! A little creepy though, that the only time the santa hats moved was just as you turn to face them. I kept feeling like the turrets were watching me when my back was turned, only to snap back into place when I looked...

I also had some of those snowflake 'artifacts', the cobweb effect flashing across the screen. The only time I actually experienced it was when I placed two portals next to each other, such as at the far end of the light bridge. The rest of the time was fine. More of this, please.

Your mapping is so good, that it pisses me off because I can't add cool custom stuff like that.
Yet!

Loved the map. Never wanted to finish a map so fast before though! Probably an error on my part, but I got no voice. Music yes, voice no. 5/5 from me.

BTW, I tried packaging this as a .vpk file, but it wouldn't run. Again, probably an error on my part, but I'll take another crack at it, since it's a much better way to package custom content.

This map is actually pretty good considering all the custom stuff you put in. Unfortunately though, I couldn't see the hats on the turrets or the button at the end of the level until I watched someone else's video.

I can't believe people had to no clip the exit. The lasers seemed kind of obvious after about five minutes.
