I've been enjoying the hell out of the PTI editor now that we can skip the VRad part during testing, so here's a wee pack of some I bothered to finish. Would love to see your solutions and hear how it went.

I thought Gypsy Carousel was a lot of fun: it required thinking through the entire way and required some new (at least to me) techniques to solve it.

Splatterpuss was more straightforward, probably because I recently replayed the map it was based on. I'm not sure if it was intended to be able to pickup the cube through the grate to place it on the button that opened the panel, but that's what I did.

Slippyfist was just massively confusing at first with all those long indicator lines going through multiple levels and areas you couldn't explore to find out what did what because of the laser fields. But after a couple of false starts, the solution came pretty quickly because there were just so few portable surfaces you could actually work with at any one time. Was it intended to get the cube on the last button by crouching down and pulling it through the portal off the other button?

Of the three, I definitely liked GC the best: it just felt more puzzly.

Cheers for the feedback Roger
I updated Splatterpuss just last night or so to fix the grating issue, so chances are you played an older version. Still, not much replay value if you already know the solution!
Crouch-grabbing the cube through the portal on Slippyfist was the right solution - figured it'd be a nice diversion to make you question your solution towards the end... but I totally see whatcha mean about it being windey.

I think GC is my favourite too. Seems I stumbled on a really nice shape for small levels there

Lovely set of maps. Gypsy Carousel was fun, though I actually just breezed through it so in that sense I preferred the other two. I also ended up adjusting the cube through the grate in Splatterpuss, as it didn't quite land on the button. Incidentally, I initially read the title as 'Splatterpuss (Hardfish)' and thought that was a fantastic title for a Gabber track...

Had a weird bug in Slippyfist that I've never seen before:

Cheers, glad you liked 'em
I had to fix being able to put a whole cube through the grating in splatterpuss recently, so by comparison, adjusting it is fine. Adjust away! I've never seen the double cube bug on a PeTI map before, heh.. not sure if I should be bothered or if it's a one in a million bug. Probably safest that I think you for alerting me to the issue then sweep it under the rug. Thankyou

I'm totally calling the next one Hardfish btw :p

SlippyFist was tricky and fun.
I really enjoyed it.

You know - the numer of comments given to any single excellent map have dwindled. I think it is because of the new editor cauaing thousands of maps to be created.
So I very much regret that you are not getting the kudos that you deserve for all the hard work.
Well I for one - am giving you kudos.

MAJOR KUDOS !!

Hah, cheers man =) It's cool though, if I don't have an excuse to play on TWP all day, I can actually get some work done

Awesome puzzles Sickle! Took me 30 minutes to complete all 3 maps, Slippyfist being the longest, and Splatterpuss being the shortest. Below are my blindruns for all 3 maps plus some feedbacks, separated by sections.

Splatterpuss (Hardish):
I completed this level pretty fast, I guess its because the concept is really similar of Gig's Outside the Box map, which I just learnt not long ago. Great use of the Companion Cube, by the way
Here's my blindrun:
Blindrun

Feedback
1. I grabbed the cube through the grate to put on the button. Is that intended? :O

Gypsy Carousel:
Great level, puzzles were really good
Here's my blindrun:
Blindrun

Feedback
1. I think I solved it in an unintended solution. I stood in the middle of two portals and then fired a portal on the other side while moving backwards to enter the cube dropper room. Is that intended? :O

Slippyfist:
Absolutely awesome level, was stucked at various points of the level, mostly near the end. Puzzles were amazing and well-planned.
Here's my blindrun:
Blindrun

Feedback
1. Is it intended to put the cube on the button's edge in order for me to croch-grab the cube through the portal? Button.png If its intended, thats pretty awesome. Really creative

Definitely a 5/5!
Cheers!

Hey Sickle - I am sorry to post about a different map in this section, but I cannot find the map in TWP:
It is called: Advanced Painting 2
.
And I see a couple other guys have also failed at this map - the same map I gave up on a while ago.

Advanced Painting 2. So I figgered I would help them all and post a request for a video or for a tip on the TWP page for that Map.

BUT . . . and this is a BIG BUTT . . . I cannot find it here - it may be here but the TWP Search Engine is horrible. Typing in "Advanced Painting 2" resulted in tons of unrelated map names that id not have ANY of those terms in them !!

So - in desperation I tried to simply list all of your Maps. You would think that would be a simple thing to do. I went to the following field and typed in "Sicklebrick":

For users which have uploaded or changed downloads

NO MAPS SHOWED UP.

I was hoping to find a video to help.
As with the other 2 guys . . . I cannot complete the part after the vertical shafts.
The distance across is simply too long.

Thanks

Are you kidding? Sickle's Advanced Painting 2 map is in his signature.

@Rector:

Haha, quite impressed at how fast you did Splatterpuss there, that's prettymuch intentional, yeah. Alternatively you could just drop the cube from higher, but nomatter.

In gypsy carousel, I can't remember the actual solution. It seems like the sort of thing I might do and there was certainly some climbing involved. Still, you got there

As for slippyfist... I just made that one as filler. Didn't think it was really that good, but I'm glad you enjoyed it nontheless. I skimmed the video a bit, but yeah, crouch-grabbing was the solution.

Cheers for the feedback and vids though man, appreciate it =)

@PCdoc:

Awesome facepalm moment there!
Haha, I've forgotten the actual solution to that too, I'll try and squeeze in a vid tonight but there was deffinitely a double-reportal going on against the back wall. I believe the angle of the floor portal made a huge difference too and that you might have had to stand facing the wall while placing it at an angle to get it up behind a dropper? Does that sound like the right thing?
Will check back after work and a nap =)

I have noticed that in some maps I can stream the gel down through the 2 portals and actually go make a sandwich - then return to see the gel still streaming down.

But in this map it only flows for a second or two - no matter how accurately you place the 2 portals.
OK so I did that, let it flow for 2 secs (which is the max I think) and re-shot the top portal into the back wall at the highest point possible. A splotch of White gel careened out and over the abyss . . but came to an untimely demise about 15 feet short of the far end.
I must be missing something very simple - that is usually what happens.

Addendum: in the final vertical shaft I realized that instead of taking 10 mins to gradually shoot portals up higher and higher, I could have shot a portal . . as I was falling . . right near the bottom to then sail upward. However the timing and accuracy required was just too much. But I sure did try, man.

What in the world ? How did you . .

I tried the exact same thing - numerous times, but never got the gel to keep flowing down.

I wonder - I will say this - that I shot the top and bottom portals at about a 45-degree angle but they were both at the same angle. That way I did not have to stand so close to the drink.

Could the angle somehow be causing the gel to simply peter out ?
It looks as if some of the gel tends to spray outside the edges of the portal as it flows down and the volume of gel goes down to zero very quickly.

I should probably admit now that in the first vid I didn't even bother to check if the gel had landed >.<
Here's a proper explanation. There are a few wee things you an do to improve the fling though:

-Try and let it fall for about 5 secs instead of 3. It looks like it's hit terminal velocity after 3, but the extra little push makes all the difference.
-If it's shuffling off to one side... just correct it a bit in the other direction. This also helps spread paint out if your'e using 2 floor portals.
-Use a reference point like that line I used in the vid
-Might help to gather some large blobs up by using 2 floor portals. Not necessary, but hey.

I think there's a tendency to rush the floor/ceiling portal infinifling for fear that the paint will peter out, but taking your time and correcting any deviation is probably the biggest help

No, it's not possible. Spent 2 days on that map. To no avail.

I never successfully double-portaled the white gel in a constant stream.
It would only come out in spurts. LOL

But seriously, I can only conclude by the video that the portals must be placed EXACTLY in congruence with one-another to prevent any splashing of the gel so that the speed can accelerate uninterrupted.

Hey - it worked. - the levels were all challenging. You really have to think to redirect the gel where you need it to go. When I finally got this one, I did use your "line up with the wall line trick" and made sure to shoot both portals at an exact perpendicular orientation to the back wall.

Of interest to some may be that after many attempts to perfect the two Portal placements, I was never able to get permanent gel flow. The longest duration was about 5 to 7 seconds before the gel volume went to zero. The flow would always start to move off to one side or the other, and the slight splattering would of course, use up gel.

Hmm...
Maybe replacing the portal mid-fall does some kinda mini portal-bump on the paint or something to give it a little bit of extra speed.. perhaps it's a little random, but when lined up I managed to get the paint across almost 100%...

I posted this the other day btw lifeson99, it has moar proof and a better explanation:
g9uaAvGNDQw

Guess I'll have to work out some new tricks for the next one... or at least put some portal placement helpers in >.< Permanent flow is probably possible that way, maybe even allowing 2 separate shots from one infinifling
