Minimalism is a collection of very small, contained, simply-designed yet challenging maps. Get the whole series here.

The 5th and (for a while, at least) final map in the series sees test subjects with a little more weaponry in their arsenal, given the cobalt trio of a lightbridge, blue gel pipe and a funnel. Could well be the easiest map in the series, but there's extra fun to be had for advanced players in trying to get at Ratman's Companion Cube...

Ha, well, I don't have nearly enough time to do a full-on map for the contest (though I really would have liked to) but while I was away last week I had time to jot down this idea in a notepad; took less than a day to do the actual mapping.

I figured it was best to put it out now rather than next week when the storm of contest submissions hits and draws everyone's attention. Besides, while you guys are all busy beavering away there might be some puzzle-starved punters out there looking for a fix....

Well sir your consideration is much appreciated. I'll be sure to give this a try myself sometime.

Yet another awesome map.

After a dozen tries with techniques from the previous maps I finally came up with this solution. I couldn't figure out how to get to the companion cube yet after walking on the laser field emitters.

zivi - Yeah, pretty much as intended except for painting the wall - that's what the angled panel was supposed to be for, though it hardly matters. As for getting the cube - it's a bit of an unorthodox method, for sure. By which I mean that if you spend too much time on it you may wish to punch me in the face when you find out how it's done.

Xtreger, rock_n_rage - Cheers, hope you have fun!

That isn't how I did it at all. I can't believe how hard I made this one on myself. I timed a funnel ride up so I was just below lasers just before it ran out, portaled through the angled panel, bounced, crouched, and I'm up. Needless to say, there were many deaths attempting this route. Next time, Roger, try the easy things first!

Hi, El. Nice puzzle again. The way to get the cube ... I always feel suspicious when I see the security camera on a portable surface.

Great Puzzle El! Here's what I did - I ran gel up the one wall on the side of the exit and then ran gel lip the light bridge coating it. Just bounced back and forth until I was by the exit. I actually found this by accident early on. After that, I popped down onto the blue gel that was on the floor, bounced up and ran along the laser field bars into the rattman den. Not sure if I'm an idot or not but I had to no clip up to the cube area. No portable surfaces up there.

Nice use of the TWP ad art!

Roger - Haha, I had thought that nothing spells 'don't come up here right now!' like a field of laserdeath, but I guess I was wrong... I was hesitant about including the lasers, actually, as it makes this the only map in the series where it's possible to die, but I thought they'd be more dissuading (and less expensive) than a strip of lightbridges. Anyway, I wouldn't make a puzzle with a solution quite so mean, trust me. Thanks for the feedback!

greykarel - Looking forward to your vid. As they say in Japan - ?????('Sasuga da ne!', no direct translation but basically in this context means "The high level of performance that is expected of you!")

rock - Yep, right on the money there. Thanks for playing!

Was relatively easy for me and my main method was the same as zivi. I saw this concept in couple of maps so maybe that`s why. Saying that still a solid map. Looking forward for next releases. Many thanks for mapping
EDIT: greykarel nice one with the qube. Played your other maps and those are awesome - Pearly rules !

macko - Yeah, I thought this one would be a little easy, but then that's why I put in the Ratman den. Still, thanks for playing and taking the time to comment. greykarel's solution for the cube is pretty much exactly as planned, too, which is good to see!

El I love your minimalism map pack and I would recommend it to everyone who prefer small but tricky chambers. Excellent work man. Pearly is a gem. Please make something difficult for coop

Ha, cheers. As I say, this is the last in the series for now as I'm going on a long trip from the end of this month and won't be able to do anything until the New Year. I think next time I'll want to really take my time and make something special, and I've been wanting to do a co-op map, so that's a definite possibility...
