Valve's Reconstructing theme of E3 2010 had one of the most impressive vistas of any Source game.
This map aims to re-capture it.

Not sure I get the opening blurb - do you need a Sixense to play this, then?

Still not sure what a Sixense actually does, besides being a motion controller, but I really enjoyed the level. I think due to the style used, the HL2 stuff fits in a lot better than I'd expect, and really caught me off guard at the end there >.< Fun level anyway, thanks

of course you do.

Then may I humbly suggest you put that in the description so I don't waste my time trying it?

it's clearly stated in the workshop

and in the Readme.txt in the .zip folder. For some reason i can't edit my thread, otherwise i would do it now.

This map looks awesome, too bad it requires Sixense.

I guess we have a different definition of the word 'clear', as that sentence would presumably only make sense to someone with Sixense experience. Still, looks like a great map, and I'm a little disappointed I can't play it...

Yeah, I'm kind of with El Farmerino on this one...I had no idea what the statement meant and thought it might become clear while playing the map. Looked like an amazing map, so a little disappointed I couldn't play it.

So, while I definitely think that making a map (for a contest, no less) that requires the use of a very rare third party peripheral isn't the smartest move, and even though zero of our 10+ judges owns one, I refuse to disqualify a map on those grounds. Not to mention that, Sixense requirements aside, the map looks pretty amazing.

We've contacted Valve to see if they have any Sixenses in their office and if they would be willing to judge your map. I'm contacting all of my developer friends to see if anyone I know has one, so far the answer is no. Somebody said you could hack a Wiimote to emulate Sixense controls.

Worst case scenario, we're going to have to "disqualify with honors" and give you a consolation prize or something, on the grounds that we can't judge it, through no fault of your own.

In the future, if you want your Sixense map judged, either ask first to make sure there isn't going to be any problems, or buy the judging team Sixenses.

I'm pretty sure Reepblue has one; you could try bugging him about it.

I agree, the map does look amazing, and I fully support the idea of LambdaCore 21 buying myself and all of the judges Sixense controllers so that we can all play it.

I'd honestly heard of no one that actually bought one of those. PC gamers as a whole seem to reject the whole "motion control" thing.

Even weirder that someone would make a map for one lol

Still, I hope there's a way for it to be fairly judged.

woah, i didn't expect this O.o
you'd think running a Portal 2 website with such dedication could ensure to own the Hydra, too.

maybe the people in the Sixense group could help out? should i post an announcement or something?

Valve playing maps for fun when they have to run a buisness at the same time?
curious about their response

anyway, thanks for not simply trashing my thread

Yeah dude, almost nobody bought a Sixense, at least in relation to the number of Portal 2 units sold. Personally I don't like any peripherals, they all seem like a gimmick to me.

Unfortunately Valve doesn't have any in their office either, so that's not an option.

You can contact the Sixense group, but the problem is that I don't know any of them, so I don't know how well they could accurately judge your map. Just because you own the peripheral doesn't mean you have the knowledge or critical eye that we look for in judges.

That said, I still recommend uploading a video or a demo (will a Sixense demo even work on non-Sixense games?) playing through your map. Don't try to speed run, go slow so that we can at least get a good idea of what's going on in your puzzle.

My feedback:
Do not read if you are judge!

||No controller, but did have a look around and placed portals around where I could complete the puzzle. A little disappointing tbh all the effort for a niche audience.

Fantastic looking though.||

My feedback

thx for trying my map, but i'm afraid the experience is totally different compared to playing it with the controllers
