Wow! Redunzl and I played this monster last night, and it kept us busy for quite a while. Our blind play-through took over an hour. There is so much to this map that this comment won't cover it all, simply because I can't remember it all. Although I have some criticisms, there is no doubt this one deserves a 5 rating.
The two most outstanding features of this map are its size and esthetics. It's huge, and it looks fantastic! In some places, it is too big. For example, when you are searching for the portal guns at the beginning, there are just so many long winding hallways. Yet at the same time, some of the puzzle elements are quite cramped. While all of the rooms are exquisitely detailed, you won't see most of it unless you deliberately wander off to look at it.
It would benefit from some audio enhancements, like music and some GlaDOS to interject some liveliness into the dead and dreary atmosphere. Of course, I can say the same for us, too. Those intrepid souls who watch the play-through would have benefited from hearing us discuss what we were thinking about.
Despite the fact that it took us over an hour to play this, we didn't find any of the puzzles elements too difficult. There are definitely no ninja skills required here. There were no clever twists in the solutions that I can recall. If anything, the puzzles were a bit over-specified in places, allowing for multiple solutions. I think players who might struggle a bit with the original game will have little trouble with this, so it's very approachable for players with average skills.
I don't recall finding any bugs (remarkable in a map this size), but having to have both players present to get the second portal gun seemed odd. We thought the up/down buttons in the elevator would lead us to different solution paths, given the map's title, and were disappointed that it didn't.
I can't begin to estimate the time and effort required to create this, but it was time well spent. Excellent work!
