Laser and single portal tests

Thanks to Josepezdj for playtesting

This entire series is outstanding work! If Valve hasn't offered you a job yet, I can't imagine what they're looking for.

This

Thank you LoneWolf for chosing me to beta-test your maps. It remained a pleassure playing such these amazing series of clever puzzles and awesome detailed chambers. 10/10 from me, mate!

This one could be one of my favourite ones altogether with part 4. It's stunning, outstanding. Lighting is amazing, it makes you really feel the place.

Keeep on mapping!

Cheers!

Like the other guys said above, amazing stuff. Visually, you seem to be getting better and better with each release - parts of this are absolutely stunning. Puzzle-wise, too, it's a nice clean set, and I always admire maps which make good use of the single-portal device. Well done!

Worth waiting for!
I got that same sense of dilapidation and shit going on that I haven't felt since my first playthrough. Like there's some kinda leafy green sunny day juuust out of reach, and sunlight pouring through all the cracks with the bird noises and stuff... awesome.
I was really wowed at the quality and level of detail throughout and.. hell, you even managed to do some good 1-portal puzzles. Thanks!

Thanks everyone

Glad you all liked it, unfortunately the pc problems that almost made me lose this map are getting worse, stupid computer so I am delayed in being able to work on parts 6 and 7

Where did I miss part 0? this was a really excellent map and creative puzzles, even the single portal ones which is a bit of a feat sometimes... Nothing in the solution I used which required tricky strafing, although it is amazing to see (yes I did get to the upper part without strafing as I am "strafing challenged").
The last exit door was great, just when I thought I was done.... Well done, enjoyed it, thanks for creating.

Another excellent map. Puzzles required some thought and the design was very good. I had a few points of confusion that you might not want to have in a map that is supposed to be the first level. It actually took me a long time to get the door to open at the beginning because it opens inward and since I was standing in its way it refused to move. Maybe make it open outwards. I was initially confused by the floor button next to the pedestal button, because if you put a cube on it, nothing seems to happen, and I spent some time looking around trying to find out what it did. And then I couldn't figure out why the button in the room with the laser in the last chamber was needed. But these are relatively inconsequential things. This series has been a lot of fun. Thanks.

The door has to open out because of the rubble on the other side, ahh ok I thought it would be obvious that it unlocks the button next to it, that button in the last room opens the orange portal as well, josepezdj trapped himself in there during testing so I added it.

Great job again! Visual were amazing and it had few great 1 portal puzzles but I will have to say that I prefer part 5. I don't really know why but I didn't like this one as much. Maybe it was because of the difficulty as I found this much easier than your last one.

I will have to say that your maps are kinda hard to solve unintended as they require all the elements to open the final door. I still managed to find one jump you didn't take in to account.

My solution video and the jump can be seen here:

Keep em coming!

Hope you don't mind LW, but I can't get enough of this so I've been going over it again and again for a ninja route. Can't seem to find anything for part 3, but here's what I have so far
(Excuse the pauses, been sneezing my ass off.)

@shakky thanks for the video and for doing both the intended and ninja route

@sicklebrick thanks for breaking everything, kinda figured if you did that bunny hop you could reach the elevator before it came down cause i couldnt be bothered adding all the clipping around it

So now we get to see how it all started. I thought Chamber 2 was the best of this bunch.
This entire series is excellent.

You know, you did not state that any of these maps are "Hard" and in that way more players can complete them - so I see why you might not want to make them hard. But I was wondering if you could make one "Hard" Level for Map 06 (which you indicated you lost but got back a portion of). You know, something that will out-Ninja the original Ninja Warrior, sicklebrick !!

sickle - I actually did that strafe jump at 1:06 instead of using the light bridge . . . if done properly you can really get some good horizontal movement !! You do manage to Ninja Everything - but hey, if you live in Scotland, (especially if in Glasgow) . . . you gotta be ready with the Ninja moves !! (see the U.N report: Scotland - the most violent country in the world:
http://www.martinfrost.ws/htmlfiles/scotland_dangerous.html
Then again - LA and Chicago have to be runners up right behind !!

@PCdoc:
Heh, yeah, you can also do that bit by jumping from the raised platform into the first orange portal, then activating the second while bouncing up and down between 2 floor portals, and you can run along the window ledge behind the laser to get accross but I like this combined approach

Loved the report too. "Most violent place"... but only if you exlude murder, mugging and rape. Essentially "Scots like to fight when they're drunk". I could've told you that! Hahah.
I'm in Edinburgh anyway :p

Anyhoo, I thought LoneWolf had lost this map and recovered it, but now I can't wait for part 6

Thanks PCdoc and lpfreaky

Yea it was this map I almost lost, and I don't think ninja maps are my style, mostly cause then I wouldn't be able to solve my own maps

I am struggling to make the next maps cause of my stupid PC though

EDIT: Computer hopefully fixed, turns out the moron who installed the processor didnt add any thermal paste Anyhow part 6 is more just a (hopefully) fun little level rather than difficult, though its a logic nightmare for me, i'll try to make part tricky but there is what the workshop considers hard and what TWP considers hard and I cannot do the latter

Yes, well as far as the difficulty factor, these are really just fine and I would much rather play these than the super-hard ones. These maps do really make you think, but are solvable if you take your time. Personally my favorite "hardness" is about halfway between regular maps and the Jonaton / GreyArea (not sure if I have his name right) maps.
PERFECT difficulty IMO was a Rulin map called "Engineer" - and what an amazing map it was.
I must not leave out Markiu, Chander, "You", Josepezdi, SickleBrick etc etc etc - all of you guys have had some maps that had just the right amount of difficulty.

Here are my Favs:

List 1) Maps I could NOT SOLVE - had to refer to the Video to complete:
