So I was wondering, should we have a rep system, and if so:

• what icons should we use?
• should there be limitations on who can dish out rep / a rep-per-day cap?

Rep is pointless and stupid. It's like adding micromanagement to a game. It's there, but only hardcore users use it. And nearly all of them are critiquy snobs :T

While we may be trying to act like a grown up big boy forum, there's really not enough people here yet to make a rep system worthwhile. It'd be like a small table of people sitting down for lunch and then ignoring everything one guy says just for the heck of it. When you have a large-scale forum, there's often a need to drown out the wailing chorus of parasites from the counterpoint of democracy; but when we encourage uplifting or down-putting people beyond sheer need, we discourage growth.
