Bunnyhopping without a portal gun?

I've been playing portal 2 for a while, and I've also been learning how to bunny hop. For those of you who don't know what that is, it is when you strafe and jump with a small swaying motion to gain speed, because the game registers strafing faster than walking.

My question is- does the fact that a player has a portal gun change the way they move?
Because I've been playing Lp's map: cube and button, but getting out of the elevator seems weird. I can also feel this in the traditional gamplay as well. If anyone knows about this please respond.

Thanks in advance.

No, it doesn't.
Yes, it does feel different, but that's because the player will tend to play a slightly different way if they are equipped with the portal gun or not.
Coming from an experienced speedrunner.

There's really not any differences exept for the fact that the crosshairs are different wich confuses me too. And there is 1 reason i hate portal gun
